billko
Thistle have a team entered in this years famous Milk Cup in Northern Ireland in which teams from all over the world come to compete. It's an Under 18's tourney which isn't a recognised age group for Thistle but no doubt they will have a good side put together and it's a fantastic opportunity for everyone who is involved. The draw was made earlier today and it was live on BBC NI with the young Jags missing out on getting one of the big names like Man Utd. They are in Group B and will play Chertanovo Academy (Russia) Craig Bellamy Foundation (Sierra Leone) and Co.Down (N Ireland) Tournament date is 27th July to 1st August Good luck to all the young Jags who are going to the tournament. https://www.facebook..._count=1&ref=nf Edited May 27, 2014 by billko

David Stevenson
I'm sure I've come across some of these games on the RED button while watching BBC in the past. Might be able to watch them. Anyone know if there is a game schedule available? Billko?

No ko times confirmed yet David but as there was a live BBC feed for the draw you would imagine some coverage will be available when the tournament starts. A glamour draw against a Man Utd, CSKA, Espanyol, Benfica etc would be great and I was hoping Thistle would get one of the major clubs. Suppose they can wait until the later stages Whatever happens it will be a fantastic experience for everyone. jagfox
Met the late Bertie Peacock who was one of the guiding lights in setting up this tourney back in the day. Great man, even for a former Northern Irish Celtic Captain

Lindau
Getting away from the stupidity, isn't it great that the club now have an impressive youth set up and are competing in tourneys like this. A big, big thanks to the Weirs for making it possible
Mediocre Pundit
Yip - it's also a bit of a shame that a three page thread has so few comments on the youth team while being so full of shitey puns.
Derby Jag
It's a shame that people, myself included, will have avoided this thread due to that pish. Thanks Bilko for keeping it on track and well done and good luck to all the young Jags on their games this summer. As said above it is great to see south activity in this area after years of neglect. If we can start to get a player or two able to challenge for a role in the top team every couple of years that would be a great achievement.

Mediocre Pundit
To get this back on topic... While it's great that we're winning, does anyone know what the quality of the opposition is like in this tournament? Wouldn't regard the likes of Ballymena to be a particularly good benchmark... No idea as to the quality of teams the young Jags are facing but it's renowned as one of the major pre season tournaments for teams to compete in and for me it's just good to see Thistle having teams participating at these events. It's another positive sign that the Academy is going in the right direction and all the boys involved in these tournaments will gain from the experience of playing in such an event. Thistle beat Fanad 2-1 to make it two straight wins so far. Edited July 23, 2014 by billko
Mr Bunny
Here's a list of the teams involved: http://dalefarmmilkcup.com/teams/ And here's upcoming fixtures: http://dalefarmmilkcup.com/teams/partick-thistle.html (The dates are very close so I assume there's different age groups involved). This is all moosic to my ears. (Why can't we have proper comment on the tourney AND milk puns.) Edited July 23, 2014 by Mr Bunny
