Who Are The Strikers, Out There?

I have never heard of Akpom or Denny J

Should I be getting excited??

Denny seems to be a 20 year old, ex-Celt boys, striker; 6'2" (1.88m to youngsters), with Birmingham currently but only played first team out on loan at lower level. Goal scoring so-so but hard to tell. Certainly his height would mean a different option up front and has had under-19 caps.

Edit: so which deal is dead? At least 3 names have been bandied here.

Went to school with Alan Nixon, a real Jagsman, used to frequently attended Firhill. Haven't seen him in years though, why's he being mentioned in this thread?

He was the one that revealed on Twitter that we could be signing a striker tomorrow that Archie has been chasing for a year!

I wonder if it was Jack Harper, recently mentioned on this thread, recently signed for Brighton, quite exciting...

Although the way Alan's talking about him on twitter, he sounds a bit more accomplished - he called him the "missing link". Can't think who though as Aberdeen / Rangers / St. Johnstone all apparently enquired about May and he'd probably have picked any of them over us.

McManus only signed for Fleetwood this summer so can't be him. As said it will be Denny Johnstone I think

Don't see why it couldn't be McManus.Loads of players sign for a club and then get sent on loan. Usually to the team they have just signed from, though. Didn't we do that with BRE last season ?

Purely speculation and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the impression I got was that the player in question could be Islam Feruz. When Nixon said that the player didn't want to go in the "best interests of his own safety", and the fact that it was a Scotland under-20 international (although I don't know if he's played at that level), made me think it might be him due to him being renowned for winding up both sides of the Old Firm. Or has it been established already that its Harper/Johnstone that he was talking about?

I assumed it was McManus based on the rumour about wanting to come back up to Scotland due to circumstances and being a Scotland u21, and also that Alan Nixon seems to specialise in teams in the Lancashire area (so Fleetwood), but Nixon’s subsequent quote about the player wanting to go abroad doesn’t tie in at all with wanting to come back to Scotland.

I have to admit I'm feeling a wee bit edgy now. With only four days to go before the start of the season we are lacking in depth. I fear the predictions of many fellow SPFL fans saying that we will be near the drop zone will ring true without at least three or four new faces. Still four weeks until the end of the window, but with the exception of Killie, I think other teams have inveseted well in this window.
