So the board aren't supporting Archie then? I feared the worst when all we seemed to be offering was 12 month deals. Doesn't show much confidence at board room level does it?

Archibald must be so frustrated.

I think there is frustration but there is a limit to finances available.

In my opinion only offering 1 year deals is a big problem. Most of our squad are out of contract at the end of the season. Should we stay up I think we'll have another few like Higgy, SOD or Conrad. Can get a similar or better wage and a longer term deal (ok I know Conrad is without a club) but you get the point. That puts the manager under major pressure as he needs to try to replace low paid players with even lower paid players.

We are heading to the Lambie era every player being out of contract year on year. This does not build stability at the club.

Seen the other clubs after him (allegedly) Raith, Dunfermline, Falkirk....the level we're competing at

Yes, wage wise we are not really competing with the teams in the top league. Some of these teams will have a higher home support than us and will offer similar and possibly longer deals.

I was shocked to hear what some of our players were earning last year, albeit basic with add ons. Might not be accurate but I have no reason to doubt who told me.

Still got a couple of weeks before the Dundee game, and we really need to have the squad in place to kick on by then.

All in all, it has been a good day. Muirhead was a signing right out of the blue, and a really good one at that. Hendry leaving was a sad one, but it is a great bit of business for the club, and wish him well for the future. The revenue raised from that deal will hopefully be able to fund another couple of players. And with the transfer window now closed, some of our targets can't afford to be too picky in regards to their destination which will work in our favour.
