lady-isobel-barnett
I suppose this is one way to avoid the tedium of our wee league. Sounds silly to me tho' http://news.stv.tv/scotland/1333486-dundee-v-celtic-premiership-fixture-could-be-played-in-america/?
Vinnyjag
Aye they must be confident they will be in the Premiership next season.
Third Lanark
I had heard rumours the last couple of weeks that Dundee were in possible financial bother again, obviously looks like these rumours were groubdless
JesusTejero
I'm sure the Yanks will be queuing up round the block to see Gary Harkins v Scott Brown.

Jaggernaut
If this goes ahead, how about Kingsley pulling some strings for a couple of league matches in the Californian sunshine next winter!
Rid Skwerr
If this goes ahead, how about Kingsley pulling some strings for a couple of league matches in the Californian sunshine next winter! Now there's an away game I'd definitely try to get to.....

Sounds silly to me tho' http://news.stv.tv/scotland/1333486-dundee-v-celtic-premiership-fixture-could-be-played-in-america/? It's in the article --- Dundee are owned by yanks, this is their way of trying to promote their club over there. No one will have heard of Dundee but they will have heard of Celtic. Dick Dastardly
If approved then it would signal the first time a Scottish top flight match has been played outside the country. I've not checked, but have Berwick Rangers never played in the top league ?
allyo
Hang on though. Celtic get to play Dundee at a neutral venue. But Aberdeen have to play an away game at Dens Park. Competitive advantage? Surely. In fact, Philadelphia or Boston. It wouldn't even be neutral. Edited November 24, 2015 by allyo

lady-isobel-barnett
Glad to see our home U20 fixture this week is being played at Firhill. No doubt worth the try but imo switching those glamour games to Airdrie just failed to catch the public imagination.
yoda-jag
stupidly bonkers idea. only upside to it, is if it happens, the green bigots will only be on a one-way ticket. they're always moaning and droning on about scottish league and teams not giving them competition, we are all holding them back, blah blah ..... fine, go to uncle sam land and try join the mls ..... just don't come back, and take your creepy onesie wearing ned supporters and players with you. Paddy Thistle
How the heck is playing a Scottish League game in the USA going to increase attendances in Scotland ?
lady-isobel-barnett
Hang on though. Celtic get to play Dundee at a neutral venue. But Aberdeen have to play an away game at Dens Park. Competitive advantage? Surely. I agree in principle but...... ......You've picked the wrong example there as Aberdeen played their away game with ICT at Pittodrie the season following thistlegate. Wiggy (as he was then) Milne maintained the right to vote us out of the league despite the ultimate decision being of direct benefit to his club. Motherwell would be another club who played an away match (with Gretna) at Fir Park.
allyo
Okay then. Us. Coz we're going on a mega run and could challenge Celtic for the title.

lady-isobel-barnett
Will the US Customs let in all the peys and Bovril? US Customs are pussycats in comparison to the Dens Park stewards.
Dick Dastardly
Will the US Customs let in all the peys and Bovril? Atleast it's Dundee and not United .... ian_mac
Complete gimmick of an idea. Can understand that certain people want to promote the game abroad to increase exposure etc. But surely the first priority should be getting more people IN SCOTLAND to come to games before we start trying to sell Scottish Football as an attractive product abroad. I can't imagine it's going to be easy to sell Scottish Football to a foreign market when it's currently so unpopular domestically. Let's get the house in order before trying to sell it. Rid Skwerr
I can't see this as any sort of attempt to bring the Scottish game to a wider audience. I can only see it as a blatant fundraiser on the backs of the "Cellick-minded" denizens of Philly or Boston. Otherwise why would this "glamour" game not feature a more competitive pair of teams than these two?
