I spotted an irresistible flight deal a few weeks ago so I'm taking myself off to India on Monday morning. Not taking laptop so, after tomorrow, no meaningful updates until I return on 10 November.

I realise that this tardy behaviour is not up to the high standards set by the Pop Up franchise but, well, tough!

Enjoy your trip BB.

Been on my list of places to visit with my camera, interested to hear how you get on!

A place of quite incredible contrasts between the haves and the have-nots. Some amazing scenery depending on where you go. And definitely colourful!

Spent a highly enjoyable and educational three months in Karnataka in the 90s; always wondered how (and if) it looks these days.

Enjoy!

PS: Advice: Don't drink the water! Even the bottled water can be dodgy (have you seen Slumdog Millionaire?), and don't eat ice cream. Stick to bottled beer!! Watch out for venomous snakes if you're walking across carpets of banana tree leaves on the ground. Trust me...!

It's an amazing place. I guess most people's first mental image of India is of the crowded cities. As jaggernaut said, there's so much more to it than that. Many cultures and histories now as one nation.

This is my third visit, eighteen years since I was last here. The first time I came was in 1999. Spent 5 months here as part of a year long Asia backpacking trip. It's an endlessly fascinating place.

It's a photographers dream. Landscapes, architecture & people all strikingly photogenic. Bring lots of data cards along with plenty of patience. It's not the easiest path to navigate.

Standings after Women's Second Round.

Only 11 ties played yesterday. Renfrew Ladies v Grampian Ladies void. Grampian withdrew so Renfrew progress.

Peaty FC becomes the fourth player to lead the standings. Auld Jag best of the round by far. Prophetic Dick Dastardly didn't do so well.
