Stephen1876
Jonny has left Inverness in search of first team football - shame it never worked out for him, hope he finds a new club and his career starts heading in an upward trajectory again. Bet he is grateful to Nigel Worthington, who told he would need to move to a bigger club to be a contender for the Northern Ireland squad. He has now went from pushing to be the first choice keeper to not even being in the squad...and with a keeper of Lee Camp's ability in goal, it could be a long way back! Rid Skwerr
I hear he is signing/ has signed for Steve Lomas at St. Johnstone.
Jaggernaut
Anybody see his promotional video on Youtube? Lots of his performances for Thistle, including the wonderful display at Hamilton. None of the blunders, needless to say.
JeanieD
I remember the performance at Hamilton and it was outstanding - I also remember the last minute penalty save at Cappielow to preserve a point. On the other hand I also remember the pass back against Clyde and the last minute "through the legs" at Cappielow so I remain totally unconvinced. He was perhaps a great keeper in his own head but on the pitch it was a far more mixed message. As a Thistle goalie of my memory he wouldn't be in the top ten (I am fairly old though). Now there's an excellent idea for a list!! Here goes (in approximate order of descending excellence): Rough Nelson Walker Niven Arrol Langfield Tuffey Hamilton Arthur Murdoch
Ruchillnomore
Only my opinion now but from what I can remember Murdoch was a better goalie than Arthur....but then again its all about opinions
jagfox
I think Foxy is up there. Walker and Nelson were the best I've seen. Any thoughts on the 80s triumvirate of McNab, Brough and MacLean?

Alan Murray
I think Foxy is up there. Walker and Nelson were the best I've seen. Any thoughts on the 80s triumvirate of McNab, Brough and MacLean? I thought Brough was a good keeper. I like Jonny Tuffey, was good for us and that performance against Hamilton was outstanding.

Brough was good, McLean was average, McNab was crap!

jaggy
Now there's an excellent idea for a list!! Here goes (in approximate order of descending excellence): Rough Nelson Walker Niven Arrol Langfield Tuffey Hamilton Arthur Murdoch I put Walker way above the rest (and way behing Rough) Hamilton was brilliant for us & Arrol too. Langfield was no better than Arthur for us but went on to be better. I never saw Niven

Muscat Jag
Now there's an excellent idea for a list!! Here goes (in approximate order of descending excellence): Rough Nelson Walker Niven Arrol Langfield Tuffey Hamilton Arthur Murdoch Nelson Still in 2nd place; think that's a bit generous! Jaggernaut
Nelson Still in 2nd place; think that's a bit generous! I think he did a great job for us. If you take a look at some of the Youtube clips of matches from back then, he really saved our bacon many times.

Here goes (in approximate order of descending excellence): Rough Nelson Walker Niven Arrol Langfield Tuffey Hamilton Arthur Murdoch Really? The guy was a bombscare when he was with us. No chance was he better than Tuffey, Arthur or Fox.

Muscat Jag
Incidently, I agree that Craig Nelson was an excellent keeper for us. Might have Nicky Walker a bit ahead of him though!

partickthedog
Not sure if it is the first thing you look for in a goalkeeper, but Jonny Tuffey certainly had outstanding motivational qualities in pushing his team forward when we were losing! lady-isobel-barnett
it's quite hard to judge keepers pre & post the pass back rule. Keepers nowadays require decent footwork. For that skill alone I'd put Tuffey, the most two footed kicker of a ball I've seen for many a year, a bit further up Jaggernaut's list. Lindau
Rough Walker Nelson Niven Arroll would be my top 5 with Broughie, Foxy, MabawsuRitchie, Murdoch and Arthur in the next batch as being good/very good Edited June 4, 2012 by Lindau
