Good thread. Sums up this forum well.

Some total bangers that would rather try and weed out the people with different opinions that celebrate what was a fantastic night for the club.

Certainly was a great night for Partick Thistle and to be honest a good night for your club Clyde FC as well

Dry your tears!

C'mon. Something original please you've used that so many times on different threads.

Imagine if others on this forum had posted the same thing many times that you didn't agree with....

Oh they have!! :)

Like a few on here I only post now and again. I fully understand the intial post. I do however agree with Shuggie, who suggested waiting a wee bit. For example, if we don't beat Ross County 17-0 on Saturday the usual suspects will be on here again.

My simple test on this one is judge the tone and context and decide who you would like to watch Thistle with, or have a pint with. Chewing the fat said it best. Good guy, good guy, w***

Well done Archie and players. Great achievement. Let's see if we can better in next year. I think we can :clapping::music:

Speaking personally, the reason why the negative brigade have pissed me off so much all season long is that they seem to think that they alone feel the pain when we've had an agonising end to a game (and we all know there's been more than one of them). But it's this incredibly arrogant belief of theirs that those of us who support the team and our young, inexperienced manager, through thick and thin, are palpable idiots for doing so and not joining in their clamour to have Archie sacked and replaced by some mythical hero with lots of managerial honours to his name.

If only we would listen to them we'd be better Thistle fans instead of being culpable for propping up a deadbeat managerial team. I've driven back home on a good few Saturdays absolutely gutted that we've not put the opposition away and been fully aware that we've made defensive errors, or that Archie got the substitutions wrong or whatever. But you know what, I've been following the Thistle for a very very long time and have been more than aware, from being a wee boy, that this involves pain and anguish with occasional moments and periods of joy and elation; I live for those moments and occasions. Anybody who's followed the Jags for more than a year and calls themselves a Thistle fan in any meaningful sense of the word knows all that.

Had things not turned out the way they did, we'd all have been distraught but I'd like to think that we'd all have backed Archie and co to the absolute hilt and come back again as normal next season ready for life in the second tier. That's what Thistle fans do, and we'd all have appreciated what Archie had done for us: brought us a highly watchable style of football, oh and a League title - all in first year at the helm having been chucked in at the deep end head first after the serpent deserted us.

The criticism he's been subjected to on here by a small band of small-minded cynics has, frankly, been quite disgusting in my honest opinion; Alan Archibald has had - and I'll repeat this - NO previous managerial experience, but he's delivered the goods onto our doorsteps; his achievements have been nothing short of sensational, ALL things considered. I am a far happier Thistle fan this last year or so than I have been since the 70s and I attribute this to the contribution to the Thistle cause of one Alan Archibald.

After some of the lower points of this season, I've found myself staying off the forum till half way through the following week just to avoid some of the pernicious and poisonous pish written by people who apparently like to be thought of as fans of Partick Thistle Football Club. In the light of what Archie has now delivered for all of us in the. Thistle community, I think there are a few who come on here that need to have a very long hard think about things and ask themselves whether the stuff they write is actually no more than a difference of opinion with the majority (nothing inherently wrong with that) or face the fact that the stuff they do post is harmful, polluting dross that doesn't contribute one jot to the spirit of the Thistle cause.

I've personally resolved that in future I will not be put off coming on here because of a malicious handful of posters. But I will continue to back our team, our manager and all those who want the very best for Thistle whether that involves pain or pleasure.

Looking forward to next season with great relish. It will be the usual mixture of highs and lows, but it will be Thistle led by Archie, committed to playing football the right way. That'll do just nicely for me.

Perhaps from the view you've had from the Roseburn St stand (ok YouTube) you were happy with the defending of the 2 goals conceded?

It's precisely this kind of thing that gets on my t;ts. No Jags fan's happy when we concede (I hope!). But the vast majority of goals conceded are "bad goals" from the defence's point of view. Of course it would be great if we conceded fewer. But we should have realistic expectations. In our first season up, our defence is not really any worse than 5 of the 6 teams of the bottom half, nor incredibly Motherwell who have only conceded 2 goals fewer. This is despite losing most defensive midfielders to long term injury and the genuinely surprising difficulty last season's back 5 have found in making the step up.

Incidently, I note that you often ridicule people like me, who put style of play paramount, and can therefore accept some defensive lapses, however painful provided we're playing good football. To this, I point out that Hibs' defensive record is by far the best in the bottom 6, comparable with the Arabs' and much better than Motherwell's. I for one, am not envious.

So you don't find illicit porn sites on You Tube?

The filters they use in your school must be good.

Can't say I ever have, but then again, so what if you did?

Scared you might see a naked person?

Great stuff.

Use the 'ignore' function liberally. The best thing to do with shouty weans is pay them no attention.

Re : O.P.

A well deserved ball-awk-ing for the keech stirrers, doom merchants, delusional defeatists, walter mitty types, chain crankers and general toss-pots who couldn't, and maybe still don't, see Archie, Shaggy and their team could survive this season and have the potential to take this club on to even better.

  • Archie - Inherits the squad on the last day of the transfer window and takes them on an 18 match unbeaten run to the championship.
  • With less than 6 months mannagerial experience he prepares for life in the top league in the land with reputedly the lowest budget (Hearts asides)
  • Over the last 10, we've lost the least amount of games out of the bottom 6 battlers.
  • We've had 14 draws this year, only failling to take points from celtic and Motherwell (the possible top 2). Both of whom we showed we could play a bit!
  • Survival was the goal. It's been achieved with an emphatic win over the "in form" team amongst our rivals.
  • Even if we'd had to go to the last game with County, and lost, Archie would have managed to keep us in the fight till the bitter end.... It would have been an admirable achievement.

I could go on but i'm probably repeating what others have already posted.

Captain Leader Manager Legend

... A f*ckin inspiration!!!

:fan:

... All that said, please remember, it's good that people can post annonymously on here. Encourages honesty, which of course carries the price of ar5e.hole-ery. You just don't know who's behind the words you read here. Could be young, too young, old, middle aged and out of sync, supporters of other teams, general wind uppers, journalists, yer maw, yer da, heroes, friends or enemies. Whatever they may be, let them speak freely here. Ignore it if you don't like it or argue back, but don't take it too personally.

There is no qualification, exam, or certificate to be a Jags fan. But whenever you tell someone, who didn't know, that you are a Thistle fan, the perception and reputation of the club grows a little based on how you represent it.

Spread the word. It's not always easy, not always the best fun, but I've always felt... IT'S F*CKIN GREAT TO BE A JAGS FAN!!!! ... FOREVER AND EVER...

:fan:
