So who's still out of work: McCall, Calderwood, Coyle, etc. Expect the usual names to appear in all County-related stories.

P.S. Does Adams's father-in-law not own the club; or have I been misinformed? Did he sack him? Sunday lunch discussion might be a bit tetchy...

George Adams has been given the bullet as well.

I think that makes Archie the second longest serving manager in the Premiership.

From the "In the hot seat" thread on P&B.

"08/05/08 - Dick Campbell (Forfar Athletic)

30/12/10 - Stuart McCall (Motherwell)

16/05/11 - Ally McCoist (Rangers)

18/05/11 - Derek Adams (Ross County)

07/10/11 - Jim McInally (Peterhead)

04/12/11 - Greig McDonald (Stirling Albion) (caretaker initially, officially confirmed 21/01/12)

21/03/12 - Jim Jefferies (Dunfermline Athletic)

15/05/12 - Mark Roberts (Ayr United)

03/07/12 - Grant Murray (Raith Rovers)

09/10/12 - Ray McKinnon (Brechin City)

22/10/12 - Stephen Aitken (Stranraer) (caretaker initially, officially confirmed 27/10/12)

22/11/12 - Ian Murray (Dumbarton)

13/01/13 - Jim Chapman (Annan Athletic)

30/01/13 - Jackie McNamara (Dundee United)

30/01/13 - Alan Archibald (Partick Thistle) (caretaker initially, officially confirmed 22/03/13)

03/04/13 - Alex Neil (Hamilton Academical) (caretaker initially, officially confirmed 24/05/13)"

Either joint 2nd if including the caretaker stint, or 3rd.

He clearly wasn't a terrible manager, I just think he's hit the roof of what county could achieve. In the lower leagues, they were able to offer enough more to players that it was worth their while to go up north, but now, while outpacing us and Hamilton I'd imagine the wages on offer are similar to the other clubs around them but obviously being in the middle of ******* nowhere hampers their ability to get a good player. He still achieved significant amounts in getting them here, and whether or not he was bailed out by a chairman backing him a huge deal he kept them here for the last 2 seasons.

He's still an absolute ********* who is apparently universally hated by the county playing staff.

From the BBC website

The manager, who had two spells in charge at Victoria Park, released a statement saying he had worked with "one of the lowest, if not the lowest, wage bills in the league in the last couple of seasons".

The 450 players signed each year must have been doing charity work!

Undoubtedly did a decent job but let's not forget that this was hardly a club run within its means. McGregor had the cheque book out at every turn. They wouldn't have survived last season had they not spent so big in January.

His attitude was a disgrace and I'm led to believe that was one of the reasons why McGregor punted him.

McGregor enjoys a good relationship with all other Scottish clubs and Adams antics had jeopardised that. His declaration on Saturday that DU had "stolen" the 3 points was probably the last straw. It was a never ending case of sour grapes with Adams. A continuing lack of class, dignity and humility which probably wasn't in keeping with the chairman, who is famous for his kindness and hospitality towards visiting clubs.
