That 67 league games since back to back top flight wins - it really is time to bury it.

Whaddya say Lindau, Dickie, Yoda, Norge, The Cup, BGM, stillresigned, Jave et al?????????????

Honestly Barney, don't give a monkeys as long as we stay up, preferably without any need for play offs being involved

And a win next weekend would be the best way to achieve that.

You don't want play offs then let's get the points on the board.

No mediocrity - get the job done, as Shaggy said. Top 6 remember?

But it's not like the team/management don't want to get the job done, or that they plan mediocrity. If it was that easy we'd win every week.

I'm sorry, but it's just bonkers. A total moot point.

Fair enough.

Winning one game a month is acceptable to the majority.

It's better than not winning one

Eta - if you offered me one win a month til the end of the season I reckon I'd take it.

PARADISE AT TANNADICE

• Kallum, Lyle and Stephen deliver another Jaggy milestone in sublime fashion.

:detective: 28.02.2015 Dundee United 0 Partick Thistle 2 (SPFL Premiership - game 27)

  • In the 34th minute, Partick Thistle registered their 100th League goal against Dundee United. All of these goals have come in the top-flight, 1926 to date. The Barca-esque team-effort, complete with Stephen's beautiful finish, was befitting of the milestone.
  • In this season's competitive games, Stephen's combined goals / assists tally is now into double figures. He's moved to joint-top of that particular chart alongside Ryan on 10. No' bad for a defender, eh?
  • Kallum's second goal-making corner in two games raises his assists tally to 5 in 2014-15, all of which have come in the Premiership. He is now our second-top assistant in this League campaign, and is hunting down Steven on 8.
  • Ryan McGowan, cunningly disguised in a Dundee United shirt, scores his first ever goal for Thistle. At long last big man - don't leave it so long next time!
  • Thistle win only their sixth League match at Tannadice of all-time. It's only our second League win at Tannadice since the SFL reconstruction in 1975!
  • Thistle end a horrible run of 17 competitive games without a win against Dundee United. From those in our Premiership peer group, St Johnstone now take over the category top-spot, as Jags are 9 games without a win against them.
  • Thistle register their fifth competitive clean sheet in four months, all of which have resulted in victories.
  • After picking up 10 yellows and 3 reds in our last three visits to Tannadice, Thistle leave this time without a single booking. Apart, that is, from Ryan McGowan who was working undercover, dressed as an Arab.
  • After this latest round of matches, Partick Thistle are the only team in the Premiership who can lay claim to have progressed their same stage 2013/14 position in the 5 main areas; improved League position (10th to 9th), won more games (5 to 7), scored more goals (28 to 35), conceded less goals (44 to 35) and gained more points (25 to 28). (Cheers to Dark Passenger for that one.)
  • For the twelfth footballing month in a row, Thistle have registered exactly one League victory in each calendar month. This incredibly strange run now stretches to include all of the months from January 2014 to February 2015.
  • In next week's match, Thistle have a 16th opportunity to register back to back competitive wins since the current streak started in September 2013. It's also the last chance to avoid a joint-share of the all-time record for the category. Word is, Archie has special agent Scott Boyd on the case already...

for all your ongoing sequence needs…

  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 15th match in a row. (Longest run since the Club record: 33 games in 12th, 20th Sep 2003 to 15th May 2004.)
  • 18 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 67 competitive games since back to back wins, 14th Sep 2013 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 69 games, 31st Dec 1907 to 9th Oct 1909.)
  • 34 competitive games since back to back draws, 7th May 2014 to date. (Longest run since: 59 games, 18th Aug 2009 to 11th Dec 2010. Club record: 201 games, 11th Feb 1957 to 1st Apr 1961.)
  • 67 League games since back to back Top Flight wins, 9th May 2004 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 77 games, 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  • 73 competitive games since back to back clean sheets, 6th Aug 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 102 games, 27th Apr 2002 to 23rd Oct 2004. Club record: 303 games, 26th Feb 1938 to 23rd Jun 1945.)

aren't my responses always nicely measured? :confused1:

pleased i am, you are in agreement on supporting the team ..... was it solely an unintended omission you neglected to say same with management?

right you are, it would be nice bonus, like to think our players and management will be fired up and determined to make up for the three one debacle ..... but with the dingwallers on a three game winning streak it won't be easy. players, management and supporters need to be at top of their game. but we are thistle. always believing. proud to be jags.

:detective: 07.03.2015 Ross County 1 Partick Thistle 0 (SPFL Premiership - game 28)

  • Earlier this week, Kris Doolan deservedly picked up the McCrea Financial Service player for his work in the month of January. He's the sixth different player to have picked up the fan-voted award this season.
  • Wildcard Kallum, whose card total was in double-figures last term, sees red, whilst Stuart sees yellow, and they both join Dan at the top of our bad-boy table. In competitive games, all 3 of these players are now on 7 yellows and 1 red for the season.
  • 4 yellows and a red marks Thistle's costliest disciplinary return since 4 yellows and 2 reds at Tannadice in November 2013.
  • Kris's appearance with 21 minutes to play, takes his on/off competitive-game substitutions tally to 25 for the season. This continues a distinctly 21st century pattern where certain individuals are routinely and predominantly featured in substitutions. With a potential 12 matches to play, the player could theoretically match the all-time club-record for the category, which was 37 games set by himself in season 2012-13.
  • Since scoring 4 against Hamilton, Kris has played 8 games without a goal, albeit with an average of just 41 minutes per game since then. Back in the day when the concept of substitutes was alien, yer Sandy Hair and yer Willie Sharp would net 4 times and follow it up the very next week with a brace, then bag another the week after, maybe a hat-trick in the next month. How times have changed. Before Kris, our last player to grab a haul of 4 was, of course, Ian Cameron, who scored 4 goals against Albion Rovers in August 1993. Ian then played 27 competitive games before netting again, as a substitute, against Rangers. Hopefully, Ian's highly strange competitive-game record will never be broken.
  • Thistle lose a top-flight game in Dingwall for the first time.
  • The first goal has become all-important for Thistle in these most recent months. We are currently on a run of 10 games without defeat when we score the first goal. We are currently on a run of 15 games without a win when we lose the first goal.
  • Thistle have now lost 7-in-a-row in games where the first goal has been conceded to the opposition.
  • Thistle lose one-nil in the League for the 7th time this season. Ian McCall's Jags hold the all-time club-record with 9 such losses in season 2009-10.
  • Thistle lose to nil for the 11th time time in the League this season. We've only went beyond this total in 5 seasons in our history. The club's all-time record was 15 League losses to nil in season 1995-96.
  • Irrespective of the outcome, next week's game at home to St Johnstone will see Thistle equal a 115-year-old club-record of playing 69 competitive games without back to back wins.

ongoing sequences…

  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 16th match in a row. (Longest run since the Club record: 33 games in 12th, 20th Sep 2003 to 15th May 2004.)
  • 19 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 68 competitive games since back to back wins, 14th Sep 2013 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 69 games, 31st Dec 1907 to 9th Oct 1909.)
  • 35 competitive games since back to back draws, 7th May 2014 to date. (Longest run since: 59 games, 18th Aug 2009 to 11th Dec 2010. Club record: 201 games, 11th Feb 1957 to 1st Apr 1961.)
  • 68 League games since back to back Top Flight wins, 9th May 2004 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 77 games, 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  • 74 competitive games since back to back clean sheets, 6th Aug 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 102 games, 27th Apr 2002 to 23rd Oct 2004. Club record: 303 games, 26th Feb 1938 to 23rd Jun 1945.)

OLD SKOOL ROOLZ OK

• Kris, Conrad and Stuart see Jags home comfortably.

:detective: 14.03.2015 Partick Thistle 3 St Johnstone 0 (SPFL Premiership - game 29)

  • This was the 50th League game at Firhill between the two. The Magyars now lead the series by 22 wins to 15.
  • Kris gets his first start since January, when he was voted player of the month.
  • Abdul gets his first-ever assist for the Jags. #deft
  • Kris takes his all-games goals tally into double-figures for the 5th consecutive season. He is the 10th Thistle player to have achieved this in our history, and the first to do since Denis McQuade, who registered 5 such seasons from 1970-71 onwards. Only 2 men have ever went beyond this point for Thistle - Jimmy Walker (7 seasons from 1947-58) and John Torbet (6 seasons from 1926-27).
  • One more League goal from the number nine would take his competitive-games goals tally to 10 for the 5th consecutive season - his pre-season stated target. Only 2 other men have done that in Thistle's history, and the last to do so was Jimmy Walker more than 60 years ago. It would be another great reason to celebrate what would also be his milestone 75th competitive goal for the Jags.
  • Conrad scores his first for the calendar year. Amazingly, he's only the second defender ever to have scored for Thistle in 5 consecutive seasons, the other being Kenny Watson back in the 1980s.
  • Stuart marks his 100th League start with an assist and an absolute peach of a goal.
  • Yesterday's success ends a run of 9 games without a win against St Johnstone. Our last victory against them was a 4-0 thumper in one of the aforementioned League games at Firhill, back in August 2008.
  • One more goal would have equalled our greatest margin of victory of St Johnstone which currently stands at 4 goals, achieved 4 times in 1928, 1971, 1985 and 2008. #greedy
  • Thistle are now on a run of 11 games without defeat in matches where we've taken the lead.
  • Thistle's last 6 victories have all been to nil. These wins also represent our last 6 clean sheets.
  • Thistle have played 8 games since a draw.
  • Ironically, Thistle win on the day that they match the club-record of playing 69 competitive games without back-to-back wins. Next week's game represents a 17th (and final) chance to avoid a new outright record for the category. #cmontae****jags

Not bad at all given that he doesn't start every game, and often doesn't get much (or any) service when he does get the nod!

I'm wondering how often, or when we last, won 7 top flight games by two or more goals in a single season.

I'm also wondering why Kris Doolan is always more likely to score after a run out of the team. Widely admired for his professionalism, but does he need a kick up the arse every so often?

You're like me allyo, you do a lot of wondering, love it!

I was surprised to discover that we’ve actually done that as often as not. To be precise, it’s the 41st occurrence in our 82nd top-flight season. This is mainly due to the fact that the majority of those seasons were spent in 18 or 20 team Leagues where our opponents could often be rather weak, with the likes of Albion Rovers, Cowdenbeath, East Stirlingshire, Arbroath making semi-regular appearances in the top-flight fixture lists.

The record is 14 occurrences achieved 5 times, last time in season 1946-47. In fact, from season 1920-21 onwards we achieved this in 20 out of 21 seasons running in a run which stretched beyond World War II. It seems it was abnormal for us not to win regularly with decent margins back in those days. (edited to add: I've stuck the query results in the spoiler just before I trash them. with a bit of luck we might have cause to refer to the list again before season's end)

However, we now live in completely different times of course, games are tighter, Leagues are much more even and competitive. The last time it was achieved was in season 1972-73 when we won 7 games by a two-goal margin. The season before that, Davie McParland’s League Cup winning team won 9 games by a 2 goal margin in their first season back in the top-flight.

All of this leads to another startling new claim for Archie’s extremists – they are the first Thistle side to win 7 top-flight games by a 2 goal margin since League re-construction in the mid-1970s. They're some boys, ye just never know the minute with them.

Interesting...

4 games without a start then a goal against Morton in the 1-0.

6 games without a start then a goal against United in the 2-2.

6 games without a start then a goal against St johnstone in the 3-0.

... co-incidence or psychology? I'm not qualified to say, I'll pass on that one. :P

TJR, has Kris scored 10 or more competitive goals in the previous 4 seasons?

He certainly has Will, here's the summary scoring record for the number nine...
