We need to switch to a back four the back 3/5 has not workedΒ 2. We need to play someone in front of the back fourΒ 3. We play a double pivotΒ 4. Play the two wide players but they need to defend as well as attackΒ 5 play two up front or go to 4 4 1 1Β 6 Graham needs to come off if heβs not playing well or tired 7. Fitzy needs to some coaching and attention at this stage points are more important than performances but both need to improve 1. Agree. Back 3/5, unless one of the centrebacks routinely crosses the half way line, too negative and further cedes midfield to opponents. Besides Megwa & Milne are capable defenders and both have the energy to hit the goal line AND still play fullback. I'd say the back 3 (back 5) set up only becomes an option away on a narrow pitch or late on defending a clear lead.Β 2. We don't have that "someone" apart from McBeth (questionable to many at that), and it's obvious that he's preferred at centreback. I'd suggest that lack of of a midfield ball winner was part of the reason we went to a back3/5. I guess we'll just have to continue with two midfielders playing the roleΒ of of one. Not ideal but looks to me unavoidable. 5. & 6. kinda related. I feel we play too many balls, both long and short, to Graham. He'll get more goals if he can drift into scoring positions. Constantly involving Big Brian in attacking build ups negates that somewhat. If there's less involvement there he doesn't necessarily have to be playing well to keep him on. Less likelihood of him tiring as well. We've got midfielders capable of joiney up attacking play. Getting close to Graham and getting past him. Why we haven't seen more effective build up thru midfield to date is one of the more disappointing aspects of our play so far this season.
Jaggernaut
That's all well and good, but what's the strategy to maximize income and make a profit, without relying on one individual's benevolence, and why isn't McCall still in charge, and what are the current board going to actually do instead of having their cosy wee meetings to decide on who'll be the next manager from within, and why were losses hidden, and why is the club going to the dogs, and why........ Oops, Sorry, wrong thread!

If we can re-sign Willie Howie too then you are really talking a midfield. Β I won everything with that pair in the midfield setting em up for Robert Dunn to bang em in. Β Happy times. He could square pass and tidy up in the midfield with the best of them. Yet so often he was the one running past the striker and scoring some brilliant goals (and a few tap ins and rebounds as well).

Good memories of Lennon running the midfield for us. ETA: I did a quick search, out of curiosity. It seems that quite recently he had a short spell at Rapid Bucharest, but he's not listed on their Wiki page. Anybody know where or if he's working? Neil is the Lennon in question. He was emptied after 6 games in charge.
