Donnelly Staying?

Hopeless Unbeliever

Pure hearsay but someone is claiming on Twitter that Darren Jackson will be Jackie's assistant at Dundee United. It could still be that Donnelly goes with them both (I know Jackson was working with them at Firhill), or Simon could have seen/been offered the opportunity to finish the job at Firhill and make a name for himself on his own.

I personally can't see it, but would be delighted if he stayed from a consistency point of view. That would make me feel a bit better, yeah my hot girlfriend has left me, but at least she let me keep the dog!

Nah seriously, that'd be great, maybe Beattie told Sid job is his if he stays. Maybe Jackie's told him, stay and win the trophies, you'll be a hero, if it doesn't work out, leave in the summer and join me at united anyway, win win for sid he's got a job either way.

This would definitely be the right thing do if possible in my opinion

The scenario you paint is in every sense win - win; and with a convenient escape route if we win feck all this year. I guess all good things need to come to and end but will Jackie be able to borrow from Parkhead when he's at Tannadice? I'd suggest life will be hard and welcome to the bear pit: nae money and scraping to ensure that you stay in the SPL top elite or else.

But what a season; we surely haven't handed the league to Morton? I'd hate to think that we'd change manager and then capitulate. We are still more than capable of winning the lot so why not give Simon D a chance. Although McCall did walk into the S&G on Saturday after the game... Just sayin' like and don't want to start any rumours. I know he makes quite a few games and let's be honest, he has still to deliver the last bit of his (was it a 5-year?) plan.

I'd consider getting McCall back in until the end of the season.

Archie in charge on saturday...

a lot of players throwing his name in the hat last night on twitter (if he wants it).

if the players are behind him, they should approach the board as one, requesting he gets the job til the end of the season... its a huge gamble to take for someone who has very little experience, a better manager than Moore might eat him alive in the mind game stakes...

if he gets it til the end of the season and appoints murray as his assisitant, at least the fans will have their derek whyte, to blame if it all goes wrong. :innocent2:

Too much at stake this season to risk the likes of Archie. If we were in a stagnant mid table position with no cup final to play then fair enough.

We need someone with a bit of experience.

I think we should down play the Q o S game. The home fixture v Morton only three days later looks like it could be the most important game of the season.

A manager who may be experienced in playing a different style of football with no knowledge of the individual idiosyncrasies of our most talented bunch of players for years. You may favour bringing in a course and distance specialist but his man-management skills are also going to have to be exceptional

Why does that fill me with fear that Thistle have just been shafted?

Not sure how we can have been shafted when Beattie made it clear that with McNamara and Donnelly signing new contracts a few weeks ago would mean increased compo if anyone nicked them. Am I wrong in thinking it was the ** £100,000 compo that McCall had on his head that scared Dundee away when they wanted him

** sure that was the figure quoted at the time but not deffo!

McCall was on a 3 year contract though I thought? Jackie was on a 1 year rolling contract
