  1. Today
  2. I predicted a hard fought draw with Airdrie and by the time the game finished it had turned into a rout. Therefore I think I will give up making predictions for the rest of the season. Regarding the Ayr game I would make a couple of points, we: 1. seem to have regained the ability to defend, and 2. have found our touch again in terms of scoring goals. Put these two attributes together on Saturday and hopefully that will be good enough for a win.
  3. As confident as any thistle fan can be going into this one. Last 6 we have gathered 14 points and are unbeaten. Ayr I suspect will play for a draw. As long as we keep up our current momentum....what's not to like?
  4. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/emma-lawton-signs-for-24-25/ This is great signing news. In SWPFL team of the year, coming to the attention of other clubs, in Scotland under 23 squad, and yet sees Thistle as the best option for future development.
  5. I think what you are saying here, with one eye on the opening poster, is that this may come back to haunt us.
  6. So disappointing. For the last few weeks the match day thread has been getting started much later, often in the last 24 hours. The result have improved dramatically over this time. We will see what happens now, but I fear the worst.
  7. Well done to this month's winners: https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/april-2024-centenary-fund-results/
  8. 1) can never be too early 2) must try harder
  9. Concerned on 2 counts: This thread has been started too early. The thread title is too conventional. I hope we can take advantage of the fact that Ayr will not be well enDowd in attack. Apologies!
  10. Dowds is out because he's on loan from us and therefore is ineligble.
  11. Time we had a thread. Dowds out, from unreliable sources. A lot depend on Airdrie v DU on Friday night, as regards team & tactics. Bring it on I say!
  12. I wanted to give my first three thoughts for the name "Blair," but as the first had to do with despicable acts and lies, I decided not to go there. .
  13. Think the furthest east we've ever played must remain Jakarta in 1972...
  14. Perhaps just a coincidence but Area 51, with its reported extra terrestrials, mutants etc, is just a mile or so to the east of Airdrie Town Centre. Or am I getting a bit muddled up here?
  15. Random useless fact. The surname of one of the players in our squad, Blair Alston, is the highest market town in England.
  16. According to wikipedia it is the highest - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Excelsior_Stadium Always surprises me that West Brom is the highest in England
  17. I will defer to your superior knowledge as regards Airdrie. It does seem surprising as it is very much part of the central Lowlands. You come off the M8 and there are no particularly steep climbs. The stadium itself lies down in a dip. I suppose it demonstrates just how low lying all our stadiums are. Just wondering about St Johnstone. There are a few hills in the motorway north of Stirling. But then again, you would have a fairly level drive from there to the Tay estuary! Maybe if we moved Firhill north across the Nolly to the top of the hill in Ruchill Park we could get into the Guinness Book of Records.
  18. I’ve not checked, but I suspect that Berwick would be the most Easterly where we have played Excelsior in Airdrie is the highest in the top 4 leagues
  19. Yesterday
  20. If he is better than before and still has the legs, then perhaps there would be a place for him if we are still in the Championship next year. But if we go up, we need much better than that.
  21. Highest and lowest altitude above sea level? Airdrie and Death Valley? (equally equally life-threatening places.....)☠️
  22. I was judging him from what I’ve seen in the last couple of seasons where he has looked solid. I think he is a better player now than when he was with us.
