Disgraceful

SIR - By now the whole of British football has heard of the disgraceful behaviour of Glasgow Rangers supporters. They came to Newcastle with about 20,000 supporters (if one can use that word) of which only 12,000 had tickets. These people drank in the bars all day long and it must have taken them longer to find the ground than it did for them to travel down!

Of the two invasions on the pitch, the second was the worst. Newcastle scored their second goal and five minutes later, on they came, most of them with bottles in their hands. Just what makes these maniacs tick? All through this nightmare, Scots, some in drunken comas, some ill and others with gaping head wounds, were stretched out on the ground.

[The Rangers fans] are untameable animals who should be kept in a cage!

- Bill Walker, County Durham, Jimmy Hill's Football Weekly, June 6, 1969

Did they reject it?

In a nutshell, yes.

"The formal business of the meeting was a series of votes, including the reappointment of RIFC directors - all three received enough votes, although Somers only managed 61%, suggesting at least one major shareholder did not vote in his favour - and on resolutions eight and nine, to provide the board with permission to hold a share issue.

The latter resolution was rejected, meaning that the board must provide existing shareholders with an opportunity to maintain the size of their stake. The board can now, though, seek to raise the money needed to keep the business operating - at least £8m by their own estimation - in the new year."

The herald today had an article that the South African authorities are again investigating a certain David King particularly with the method he used to pay around 40 million of the 145 million he owed in tax over there. The article stated they are investigating a number of individuals but king is top of their list

The King may be forced to go back and stand trial again in South Africa as authorities are unhappy with the amount he paid back, so God knows how much he actually fleeced the SA authorities of, tax wise. Dodgy, King, Rangers, Sevco, Spivs have one thing in common....they all seem to go hand in hand. The Football authorities are at last showing some balls over the Sevco scenario by not allowing Ashley to increase his stake in Zombieland. It will be a bigger outrage if The King ever gets his mits on the club, given that he is probably one of the biggest convicted tax evaders in the world. How can he be a fit and proper person to run a football club??

I think if Ashley takes authorities to court he will tip them apart. As for fit and proper owners? It hasn't concerned them previously.
