A couple of useless stats that may dispel the belief that Thistle are inconsistent;

  • Thistle have not won more than one league game in a calendar month since August 2013.

  • In every month since January 2014, Thistle have won at least 33% of all the league points they played for, as shown below

  • Jan 2014 - 6 from 18 - 33%
  • Feb 2014 - 4 from 9 - 44%
  • Mar 2014 - 5 from 15 - 33%
  • Apr 2014 - 4 from 9 - 44%
  • May 2014 - 4 from 9 - 44%
  • Aug 2014 - 4 from 12 - 33%
  • Sep 2014 - 3 from 9 - 33%
  • Oct 2014 - 4 from 9 - 44%
  • Nov 2014 - 4 from 9 - 44%
  • Dec 2014 - 5 from 15 - 33%
  • Jan 2015 - 5 from 15 - 33%

If we continue this trend, how many points will we end up with ?

Well that will be the 750th conceded to Celtic then.

Deep down, I knew you'd be right with that one. :(

My only worry is that if you start counting friendlies then Gerry Collins and his team go up in everybody's estimation. What a team that was right up until the first competitive kick of a ball.

Listen, just you think yourself lucky I don't include training sessions. Dick Campbell's Jags one went 87 games unbeaten against orange cones.

Thanks for this Jagsman. Absolutely no doubt this is the thread for all your useless Jaggy statoids.

Here, they will be given a happy home and will be treated with dignity and respect.

Why, only this very last 90 seconds I have been gazing admiringly at your lovely post, oohing and aahing at those strangely reassuring old 33s and 44s.

Since we came back to the top league last season we have played Celtic 6 times; lost every game, scored 2 goals, and conceded 18.

That must surely be the worst record of any team in the SPFL.

Shirley. And it gets worse, see below for full details (if you can bear to look). :white_flag:

:detective: 11.02.2015 Partick Thistle 0 Celtic 3 (SPFL Premiership - game 24)

  • Thistle made 5 changes from the side which started in Saturday's Scottish Cup tie. In his 2 year reign, Archie has yet to field the same line up for 3 matches in a row.
  • Isolating the fixture list to include League games only, Archie has only once fielded the same team for 3 games in a row. This occured back in August 2013 when Jags played Dundee United [h] D0-0; Ross County [a] W3-1; Heart of Midlothian [h] D1-1. The "3 in-a-row" League team were: Scott Fox, Stephen O'Donnell, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, Sean Welsh, Aaron Muirhead, Conrad Balatoni, Gary Fraser, Stuart Bannigan, Kris Doolan, James Craigen, Steven Lawless. The continuity was broken when Sean Welsh went off injured, and was replaced by Isaac Osbourne in the next match, a 1-0 defeat at Fir Park which ended Thistle's 19 game unbeaten run in the League.
  • The attendance figure of 5,766 is down 28% from last season's 7,978. The overall like for like figures for our 13 League fixtures remain down 31% on last season.
  • Crawford Allan becomes the first referee to use vanishing spray in a Partick Thistle League match.
  • Strangely, this is the second Thistle v Celtic game in a row to finish cardless. The last time we had such friendliness twice in a season was with Queen of the South in 2009-10.
  • According to OPTA, Partick Thistle have conceded nine goals from outside the box this season, the highest total of any Premiership side.
  • Thistle's last 8 League defeats have all been to nil.
  • Celtic depart Firhill having extended their clean sheets competitive game time beyond the 12 hours mark.
  • Thistle have now lost their last 15 League meetings with Celtic. Such a run against another club is unprecedented in our history, with every defeat extending the unwanted record. The longest such streak previously was 13 consecutive League defeats to Rangers, set between 1897 and 1906.
  • Declan gets his 3rd competitive start and once again proves to be un-subbable as he picks up the man of the match award.
  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 12th match in a row.

ongoing sequences…

  • 15 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell and Ryan Stevenson, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 64 competitive games since back to back wins, 14th Sep 2013 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 69 games, 31st Dec 1907 to 9th Oct 1909.)
  • 31 competitive games since back to back draws, 7th May 2014 to date. (Longest run since: 59 games, 18th Aug 2009 to 11th Dec 2010. Club record: 201 games, 11th Feb 1957 to 1st Apr 1961.)
  • 64 League games since back to back Top Flight wins, 9th May 2004 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 77 games, 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  • 70 competitive games since back to back clean sheets, 6th Aug 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 102 games, 27th Apr 2002 to 23rd Oct 2004. Club record: 303 games, 26th Feb 1938 to 23rd Jun 1945.)

^ Howzat for a milestone goal? Back in August, Gary Fraser's 4th minute beezer was Thistle's 100th League goal away to Dundee.

The first of those came at Carolina Port in 1898 and since then there have been 99 scored at Dens Park.

Is this set up for milestone man? If Dools nets our 100th League goal at Dens, it will be his first away League goal of the season. This would be typical Dools behaviour.

As things stand, the number nine is the Top "Home" Scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 7 goals. With his away account yet unopened, he is joint-bottom of the "Away" equivalent. Only Partick Thistle players can do this!

Tomorrow will be the 193rd League meeting between the sides - they are our most common opponents in League football (although the combined Airdrieonians / Airdrie United would tally 195).

Our record at Dens Park has been historically poor - but we've had some better fortunes in the very latest encounters. Jags are currently 5 games unbeaten vs Dundee, home and away.

Amazingly, there has been a red card in each of the last four meetings between these sides at Dens Park.

According to OPTA, "The Dee" have dropped more points from leading positions at home than any other team this term (11).

Nice to know there's someone worse off. :whistling:

Two especially memorable games for us at Dens in recent times: the Scottish Cup win 2-1 (Geree's beezer of a goal and Andy Gibson's winner), and the Paul Cairney hat-trick (3-0); everything Cairney did that day came off.

Looking back at it now, the penalty and sending off of Douglas seem a tad harsh.

ETA: Not quite everything for Cairney: he did miss a penalty before scoring a second one.

did Cairney not get harshly booked for celebrating? I think he then missed the last game of the season which was at home and would have been his final appearance as a Jag

That's right, slid down on his knees and stretched out his arms behind the goal. Ref said he was taunting the Dundee fans (the video shows that he wasn't).

^ Masochist!

TC, in terms of being comprehensive, I've got records of our two-way goal sequences going back to 1996/97 so I can tell you we've lost an average of 2.74 per season since then. Not surpisingly, there is always an upsurge when we are in the top-flight.

:detective: 14.02.2015 Dundee 1 Partick Thistle 0 (SPFL Premiership - game 25)

  • Does Scott become the first Thistle goalie in history to have been substituted 3 times in competitive matches? The highly unusual occurence follows on from his being substituted in League games vs Ross County [h] L2-3 in May 2014 and vs Dunfermline [h] W5-1 in November 2012. Whilst my substitution records are far from comprehensive from 1966 to the 1980s, I'd be very surprised if any of our 'keepers have been subbed more often than that.
  • Two goalkeepers appearing in the same competitive match is unusual enough. For the same pair to do it twice against the same team in the same season is absolutely a first for the club.
  • Thistle concede a 90th minute goal for the 5th time in the Premiership 2014-15. The goals have all cost points, 7 in total. Currently, my database can only take this query back to season 1996-97 and in that time there has never been a season like this one for League pain. Closest was the Premiership season of 2013-14, in which 4 points were lost to 90th minute goals.
  • By contrast, Thistle's only 90th minute goal in this season's Premiership came in the 4-0 win at home to Ross County and gained nil points.
  • Unbelievably, Dundee have scored a 90th minute League goal against Thistle on five separate occasions in the 21st century. Four were winners and one salvaged a draw for them.
  • Paul McGowan scored Dundee's 200th home League goal against Partick Thistle. The unlikely column tally now reads: Dundee 200 goals, Partick Thistle 100 goals.
  • Thistle go 3 League games without a goal for the first time since November 2011.
  • Thistle's last 9 League defeats have all been to nil.

ongoing sequences…

  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 13th match in a row.
  • 16 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell and Ryan Stevenson, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 65 competitive games since back to back wins, 14th Sep 2013 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 69 games, 31st Dec 1907 to 9th Oct 1909.)
  • 32 competitive games since back to back draws, 7th May 2014 to date. (Longest run since: 59 games, 18th Aug 2009 to 11th Dec 2010. Club record: 201 games, 11th Feb 1957 to 1st Apr 1961.)
  • 65 League games since back to back Top Flight wins, 9th May 2004 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 77 games, 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  • 71 competitive games since back to back clean sheets, 6th Aug 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 102 games, 27th Apr 2002 to 23rd Oct 2004. Club record: 303 games, 26th Feb 1938 to 23rd Jun 1945.)

:detective: 21.02.2015 Partick Thistle 1 Ross County 3 (SPFL Premiership - game 26)

  • Thistle are now 5 competitive games without a first-half goal.
  • In terms of competitive penalties awarded this season, Thistle have had 1 for and 7 against.
  • Paul saves his second competitive penalty out of four for the season, following on from his stop against Gary Harkins at Dundee in August.
  • After a long five months drought, last season's leading assistant in the Scottish Premiership is finally credited with another. Kallum's goal-making corner from yesterday raises his tally to four in 2014-15. His last assist was also a corner, finished by Abdul's head in the 3-1 victory against Inverness CT in September 2014.
  • Lyle is the only Thistle player to have scored in February 2015.
  • Lyle now has 4 goals in 4 games for Thistle vs Ross County.
  • With his 4th goal against County, Lyle becomes our joint all-time highest goal scorer against the men from Dingwall. He joins Kris Doolan, Chris Erskine and Martin Hardie, all of whom registered on 4 occasions.
  • Lyle becomes the 16th player to score in the League for Thistle this season. Only once has the club's spread been higher in the top-flight, when 17 scorers registered in season 1957-58.
  • In our League head to head with Ross County, Thistle have consistently registered a better record at Victoria Park than at Firhill. This strange habit has prevailed in all three of the tiers in which the clubs have met - Second Division (albeit on goal difference), First Division and now the Premiership.
  • A new range of unhealthy sequences are developing in the competitive games categories, with 4 consecutive home defeats, 5 consecutive defeats and 6 games without a win all giving cause for concern.

ongoing sequences…

  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 14th match in a row. (Longest run since the Club record: 33 games in 12th, 20th Sep 2003 to 15th May 2004.)
  • 17 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell and Ryan Stevenson, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)

PARADISE AT TANNADICE

• Kallum, Lyle and Stephen deliver another Jaggy milestone in sublime fashion.

:detective: 28.02.2015 Dundee United 0 Partick Thistle 2 (SPFL Premiership - game 27)

  • In the 34th minute, Partick Thistle registered their 100th League goal against Dundee United. All of these goals have come in the top-flight, 1926 to date. The Barca-esque team-effort, complete with Stephen's beautiful finish, was befitting of the milestone.
  • In this season's competitive games, Stephen's combined goals / assists tally is now into double figures. He's moved to joint-top of that particular chart alongside Ryan on 10. No' bad for a defender, eh?
  • Kallum's second goal-making corner in two games raises his assists tally to 5 in 2014-15, all of which have come in the Premiership. He is now our second-top assistant in this League campaign, and is hunting down Steven on 8.
  • Ryan McGowan, cunningly disguised in a Dundee United shirt, scores his first ever goal for Thistle. At long last big man - don't leave it so long next time!
  • Thistle win only their sixth League match at Tannadice of all-time. It's only our second League win at Tannadice since the SFL reconstruction in 1975!
  • Thistle end a horrible run of 17 competitive games without a win against Dundee United. From those in our Premiership peer group, St Johnstone now take over the category top-spot, as Jags are 9 games without a win against them.
  • Thistle register their fifth competitive clean sheet in four months, all of which have resulted in victories.
  • After picking up 10 yellows and 3 reds in our last three visits to Tannadice, Thistle leave this time without a single booking. Apart, that is, from Ryan McGowan who was working undercover, dressed as an Arab.
  • After this latest round of matches, Partick Thistle are the only team in the Premiership who can lay claim to have progressed their same stage 2013/14 position in the 5 main areas; improved League position (10th to 9th), won more games (5 to 7), scored more goals (28 to 35), conceded less goals (44 to 35) and gained more points (25 to 28). (Cheers to Dark Passenger for that one.)
  • For the twelfth footballing month in a row, Thistle have registered exactly one League victory in each calendar month. This incredibly strange run now stretches to include all of the months from January 2014 to February 2015.
  • In next week's match, Thistle have a 16th opportunity to register back to back competitive wins since the current streak started in September 2013. It's also the last chance to avoid a joint-share of the all-time record for the category. Word is, Archie has special agent Scott Boyd on the case already...

for all your ongoing sequence needs…

  • Thistle stay 9th in the Premiership for the 15th match in a row. (Longest run since the Club record: 33 games in 12th, 20th Sep 2003 to 15th May 2004.)
  • 18 consecutive competitive appearances for Stephen O'Donnell, 8th Nov 2014 to date. (Longest run since: Abdul Osman - 22 games, 13th Aug 2014 to 27th Dec 2014. Club record: Johnny Jackson - 313 games, 28th Aug 1926 to 25th Mar 1933.)
  • 67 competitive games since back to back wins, 14th Sep 2013 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 69 games, 31st Dec 1907 to 9th Oct 1909.)
  • 34 competitive games since back to back draws, 7th May 2014 to date. (Longest run since: 59 games, 18th Aug 2009 to 11th Dec 2010. Club record: 201 games, 11th Feb 1957 to 1st Apr 1961.)
  • 67 League games since back to back Top Flight wins, 9th May 2004 to date. (Longest run since the Club record: 77 games, 2nd Nov 1912 to 5th Dec 1914.)
  • 73 competitive games since back to back clean sheets, 6th Aug 2013 to date. (Longest run since: 102 games, 27th Apr 2002 to 23rd Oct 2004. Club record: 303 games, 26th Feb 1938 to 23rd Jun 1945.)
