Stoggy
Well done lads. MMMH made a big difference. Thought the keeper should have did better at the goalie but will take it. Halliwell still looks a wee bit shaky at the high balls. Something to work on methinks.

dl1971
Won ugly, but we'll take it. Played well first half, but Falkirk had about 80% possession second half, but hardly created a chance!! Onwards and upwards
scotty
Why did we spend the second 50 minutes defending so deep? There were times when our front two were holding them just outside their area but our midfield were almost all in our eighteen yard box. Playing deep means they can't get in behind us. McCall got the tactics absolutely right today.

Woodstock Jag
We were the clear winners of the first half but the second we didn't come out of the blocks and things started to deteriorate (quite rapidly once BMMMH came off). Which brings me to the Mental One. Class act. Graft, ability, was fired up and was very vocal, effectively organising Doolan and the midfield. We only started to struggle when he was getting tired. For me was MOTM although Archibald did also have a very good game. Halliwell was shakey today. He needs to tighten things up. Paton took his goal well. I was convinced he meant to take only one touch before shooting, but thankfully he had enough space that the extra one didn't matter. Glad to see he kept it down as he usually balloons similar situations. Referee was a bit bizarre. Let everything go in the first half then suddenly went card happy in the 2nd. Marc Twaddle was also a right moany so and so. Should have been booked well before he actually was. An important 3 points. Onwards and upwards! Stoggy
Was good to see Hardy talking some of the players through the game. Twaddle spent most of the game being crabbit. Oh and while I am here......................... 7 MINUTES of injury time???????????????
Woodstock Jag
Highlight of the game was undoubtedly Hardie taking the throw straight off the head of the Falkirk player that wasn't retreating. He wound them up all day. Was great fun to see.
Yellow & Redneck
A job well done. It was not pretty, we set up to be hard to beat and that objective was more than certainly accomplished. Martin Hardie had a decent game, however he was completely knackered the whole second half and should have been substituted much earlier than he was. Paton's goal however was a screamer, fantastic finish, it is worrying that so many defenders are finding the net and the strikers with the exception of Doolan are firing blanks, but we can't complain. Well our next 3 games gives us a great opportunity to get 9pts, Stirling, Cowdenbeath and a Dundee squad that could have a very limited squad. Onwards and upwards Thistle! Tom Stronach
What a fantastic result. We're definately starting to turn the corner. I felt Hardie made such a difference to our play today with his work rate and arial ability. I think him and Doolan could form a very decent partnership. We looked really organised today and the players were totally up for the battle. We were excellent and the first half and we deserved to be ahead at half time. Paton took his goal brilliantly and I thought he had a cracking game today. I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't press Falkirk more in the second half, as I felt they were there for the taking. Our defence was extremely deep and we were inviting trouble, although Falkirk didn't offer much up front. Another negative was the performance of Bryn Halliwell. He fluffed more than his fair share of crosses and he didn't inspire confidence at all. I nearly had a heart attack every time he came for a cross! The defence is starting to look the part. Kinniburgh had another excellent game in my opinion and it's great to see him shut the boo boys up. Liam Buchannan is a real cause for concern. He looked overweight and off the pace. It's hard to beleive that he used to be one of the best strikers in this league. But overall, an excellent day for us despite the best efforts of the referee who had one of the worst games ever. He must have booked about 10 players and it was never a dirty game. Onwards and upwards and hopefully more of the same next week at Forthbank. Members Willjag
Paul Paton would have been my MOTM today. Excellent goal and won every tackle. Nice to see him go to the fans after his strike and giving the badge respect after the goal as well. Well in Paul.
Jaggernaut
Paul Paton would have been my MOTM today. Excellent goal and won every tackle. Nice to see him go to the fans after his strike and giving the badge respect after the goal as well. Well in Paul. Agreed. One thing about PP is that he never hides, even when things aren't going well. Brilliant to see him recover before lashing the ball into the net, especially so soon after he ballooned a similar one skywards. The second half was right out of the Craig Levein school of non-football. We had so many potential breaks in midfield, but nobody in front of the man on the ball, so we had to go backwards. Lucky to get away with that tody. Archie was excellent, and Big Willie was a stand out (so to speak). Still toothless up front, but BMMMH can spur them on. He was such a thorn in the Bairns' side today. Need to continue this run at Stirling next week.

Not really arguing but Hardie was cream crackered (totally understandable) when he went off. Grehan was fine in his more limited way. I'd say he was more effective than Hardie was for the last ten minutes he was on. I don't think if you were a Bairns fan or a neutral you'd have thought Falkirk had much chance of equalising. Just with our recent history you can't blame us being edgy. In truth that was probably a more comfortable 1-0 than we care to believe. alx
Oh and while I am here......................... 7 MINUTES of injury time??????????????? It wisnae, I had my timer on. It was about 3 mins 40 seconds of extra time. Going by the whistling in the JH a lot of people hadn't twigged on the late kick off. A good three points, albeit a bit jammy. BMMH was brilliant. Paton would have been my mom, he was really pissing twaddle off.

Jaggy1967
it is if you leave to many up front and get caught with nobody back Have you fully read my post ? Doubt it ! Attacking leaves the play in the other end of the park ! Defending with 11 behind the ball, not only fecks the fan's off but is only likely to end in the result we had ala Prague ! Never get my head round anyone who can see the benefit of defending like that. Edited October 16, 2010 by Jaggy1967
The Earl of Hathaway
Aaaargh! Got stuck in the M8 b H*ns going to fegging Ibrox so missed the first 20 minutes. Thought we looked almost OK today - Archie and Kinniburgh having decent games helps a lot! Young Patrick Boyle was my man of the match as he looks to be a totally different player to that returned to us by Clyde at the start of the season - definitely a confidence thing but long may it continue. Time for payback for Stirling and Cowdenbeath over the next few weeks, and looking forward to an away tie with St Cuthbert's Wanderers in the Scottish Cup.... B.C.G. JAG
Why did we spend the second 50 minutes defending so deep? We were the clear winners of the first half but the second we didn't come out of the blocks and things started to deteriorate (quite rapidly once BMMMH came off). Sat with a die hard Bairns fan in the JHS today, side by side, but divided by the half way line. Spot on bit of analysis of Thistle from him: "So, are The Jags solar powered? Cos as soon as the sun went down they look knackered!" Sadly very true, and the 2nd half was pretty worrying, but we held on and scraped through. If we can all chip in for a couple of Duracells we might be alright. Just wish we had players willing to move forward on a clear break without holding the ball up for an escort. Still feels like no-one wants to take responsibility and that probably explains why it's our defenders who are getting the lion's share of our goals. BBMMH was a shot in the arm today and Paton's goal was the superb highlight in an otherwise humdrum affair. Agree about Halliwell, but since he never conceded one I'll restrain my criticism. Oh yeah, and it was nice to be able to despise Twaddle and not feel guilty about it like I used to. We won't win any beauty contests with play like that, but it is what we need. It's a pity though, because I spent most of the game just wanting to go back to the pub, even though we were winning. I know, some people are never happy... Mon the Thistle!
