Lindau
for Piccolo. He had a very good game today. Deserves some plaudits after getting pelters on here for his other appearances. Archie really needs to deliver in this transfer window. We are powder puff in midfield (Ozzy excepted) and up front. Teams now know that they only have to score one goal against us and its 99% certain that they will beat us. We are gonna be in big trouble unless Archie can unveil a couple of gems next month Edited December 1, 2013 by Lindau
lewcal
Got to agree. Piccolo played well. He seems to be learning and it looks like he was just keeping it simple and wasn't taking any chances.
EiderJag
Agree, Gabby one of the best performers. Thought Welsh looked good when he came on. Getting him and Isaac sitting in midfield would strengthen things considerably
Lindau
The board need to deliver with some real cash in the transfer window to help Archie out. If we can stay in this league for the next two/three seasons things will really start looking up at the club. The board can surely work out the economics of splashing out some cash to ensure we are in this league next year. If, what Archie says in the papers today is true, (Boyd and Sutton) we surely are in a position to get some half decent guys in, even if its on loan

peagreenboy
The board can surely work out the economics of splashing out some cash to ensure we are in this league next year. Looking at it from the board's point of view, is this team good enough to beat Dundee or Hamilton over two games? Because that's what we'll need to do to stay up this season. Unless everyone thinks we're so bad now that Hearts are capable of catching us up. So why would the board spend money in January when they can wait until the end of the season to give Archie cash? Sure, we'll have all slit our wrists by then, but when have Thistle ever had an aggressive purchasing strategy?
javeajag
Correct .... The thistle man of the match.... Now let's get someone to play beside him

read'n'yell
What was this the commentator mentioned we tried to sign boyd? It's the usual story, but if we don't invest in some talent our crowds are going to keep going down. Almost every game the crowds are smaller. The north stand has a good atmosphere when your in it and generates good noise, but it doesn't half look crap on tv. No one there.

Archie quoted as saying we made offers to both Boyd and Sutton at the start of the season but that they didn't want to come. He knows we need some freshness come January, especially up front. He says he will need to bring a few in, even if it is on loan
allyo
I accept that it's difficult at this stage to remain positive. But I still think we have to show a bit more belief in this team. They were comfortably the best team in the First division last season, and earned the right to play in this league. And on getting there, they showed an ability to compete. They don't become bad players over night, or over the course of a few weeks. What clearly has happened in that time is that they have lost confidence. Unfortunately, and to some extent understandably, many of the fans have also lost faith in this time. But the recent run of games has been incredibly tough. A couple of decent results could turn it back around. Hard to see it coming at this stage maybe, but if the players can grind it out (against lesser teams), and the fans show more faith, it can be done. Time to hit the reset button and get right behind them. I think the players need the fans more than ever right now. I went to their game recently and neither team are anywhere near as good as us or Morton were last year. Just both reasonably solid teams. mhs
Gabby did very well today, nice to see. The board will not splash cash in January. Any signings are likely to be much the same as what we have. Cant see us paying for or attracting any great talent.
Alan Murray
Piccolo would have been my man of the match today. I had thought that he was not ready to play at this level but happily proved wrong today. He was excellent throughout the game and could turn out to be a very good bit of business by Archie. lady-isobel-barnett
Didn't see much wrong with the central defensive partnership either. Gabriel hasn't done much wrong since before playing at Tannadice in the League Cup, Problem has always been the combination not gelling.Whole greater than the sum of the parts... potty trained
Thought he was outstanding today, bossed Zola for the majority of the game in the air. If he didn't win the header, he made sure Zola wasn't getting a clean contact. Winning tackles on the deck with power and cleanly, him and Ozzy linked up really well. He gave Conrad an easy shift today as he pretty much did the majority of the defending. Loved that the crowd got right behind him in both stands. Anyone one willing to own up yet, to stealing the Mexican flag from the carrier bag tied to the Amsterdam Jags flag?
Trotter
Gabby has taken a while to adapt to the physical nature of the Scottish game & not playing regularly won't help. Good to see him get a good 90 minutes today. Jury still out on him as a Summer signing but he's a young man with potential still. Mark Kerr & John Baird on the other hand... Mukendi I've never seen but s has been mentioned before Archie doesn't see him as an answer. But... I sound like a stuck record with this but we can't afford to make same mistakes in January window as we did in the Summer. I just hope that Archie has someone identifying targets for him this time as it's obvious with no scouting system as such & him not having the same contacts as a McNamara we struggled in the Summer. The scouting system has to be addressed by the Summer. Time for the BoD to put their hands in their pockets.

Norgethistle
Based on what? We can't score, we can't keep clean sheets, and both Dundee and Hamilton are scoring regular and are used to winning

He knows we need some freshness come January, especially up front. He says he will need to bring a few in, even if it is on loan Cheers. It is encouraging that he knew we needed some experience up top. I would guess that we couldn't offer the type of deal Killie and Well were offering. Will that be different in Jan ? Yellow & Redneck
Have to agree. Thought the big man was superb. Nothing fancy, just did the fundamentals well, especially in the second half. With me being in the North Stand, I got a pretty good view at two or three brilliant tackles he made later in the game. uberteeb
He was class yesterday, best performance from a central defender I've seen since the opening match against Dundee United. He must start next week. He took care of his own business like a boss and covered Balatoni's oil tanker-esque arse a couple of times as well. Aberdeen fans I know singled Balatoni out for being poor and were laughing at how slow (and fat) he is. Only Picallo and Osbourne playerd yesterday, the rest varied from below average to pish.
