Garscube Road End
I remember the Firhill match at that league cup campaign. Unleashed our Red and Yellow stripes under Wee Bertie. Wonderful strip.
lady-isobel-barnett
Dundee United away. So being seeded definitely helps. Hahaha. We've been given a tie against lower league opposition so I don't think we can complain seeding hasn't worked in our case. We could've faced one of three sides that finished above us in the league last season. Can't say I'm too sure about the seeding as a whole. Clubs like Alloa want money spinning ties with the likes of Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen & Celtic. By winning their section in the manner they did that opportunity was lost. partickthedog
At least Archie will not be tempted to repeat the disastrous experiment of deploying three experienced centre backs in a cup tie at Tannadice.....as we do not have three experienced centre backs. Big Col
Is not just me being paranoid that Rangers were first out the hat and given a home tie against the lowest league placed team in the draw? And that Celtic were also given a home tie. Or should I just accept that type of thing is the norm these days?

As you think it was manipulated a genuine question - how do you think they managed to fiddle it? Hot balls?

Big Col
The draw was live on TV. As you think it was manipulated a genuine question - how do you think they managed to fiddle it? Hot balls? That was always the rumour wasn't it? The cold ball was Celtic and the hot ball was Rangers. Perfectly easy to fiddle a draw, regardless of it being live on TV. Just a bit convenient they both got home ties.
JeanieD
Given recent cup history and our tendancy to lose to any even half competent opposition this draw looks a bit grim. Nae money either probably, but you never know.
Weebaw1
Attack. Their CB's are poor. Sutton was right when he said that Donaldson thinks he's a footballer. He is not. That's not his job. Big Liam defends.

stillresigned
Was the one tie I didn't want precisely because of our dismal Cup record against Utd. Went to the first three games and remember them quite well. First 2 were even Stevens, the 1981 game we got pumped 1-0 with Alan Rough keeping us in the game ( again!). Remember him making one of the best saves I ever saw in that game, might've been from Paul Sturrock? To be fair they were a really good team at that time and we were no bad either! lady-isobel-barnett
A lot will be said about our Cup exit at Tannadice and Archie's negative tactics (perceived or for real). The difference surrounding this game is fairly obvious. Firstly the league season is hardly under way so our focus so to speak shouldn't enter into consideration. The game back in February came after a tough Tuesday night fixture that at the time looked like a six pointer. With no Saturday game to follow we've absolutely no excuses this time. Secondly, barring injuries on Saturday, there's no pressing reason why we should need to tamper dramatically with formation. The slightly notorious "three at the back" experiment probably owed as much to what were to be our next two fixtures (games v Hearts & Aberdeen) as it did to countering Mixu's erratic tactics. Archie may of course tweak formation depending on what striking options he deploys. He said yesterday with three or four different types of front men that he can deploy, with a combination of one or two up, will keep the opposition guessing. Can still see punters riled by whatever line up Archie selects as I don't think our strongest available team we can put out will necessarily be the fittest. Looks likely our match is on the Tuesday night. Wednesday night would be better from our point of view re recovery. ian_mac
As if the trip wasn't enticing enough - we'll be behind the goal for this game rather than the excellent view we normally have in the fair play stand.
Big Col
Did anyone else watch the draw for the quarter finals? Both cheeks of the Old Firm drawn at home and both avoid SPL opposition. So predictable. Just as well its not rigged.
