Rid Skwerr
Wow! What a great shot in the arm for the club and players at the start of a new season. Another brilliant contribution by Colin Weir, and a fitting tribute to Mr. McParland. Let's hope that planning permission goes through smoothly (at least we're not dealing with "Old Firm friendly" Glasgow district council this time).

AlgarveJag
shouldn't have any trouble encouraging the grass to grow there and it might even be ideal for rhubarb
AlgarveJag
Plenty of space to build a new four sided stadium. The Slippers McConalogue Sludge Digester Super Seal Energy Power Check JD Sports Fortress Firhill Stadium has a certain ring to it, don't you think? Seriously, this is fantastic news. Can't believe they are still on track for 2019 which must be a massive boost for the club and the future of Partick Thistle. So much going on behind the scenes, brilliant. Big thanks to the Weirs for their funding and belief and well done everyone for deciding to give the facility a name now and not wait too long into the future. McParland Park - love it!
lady-isobel-barnett
Ah, this looks grand. McParland Park is of course the best possible name from a Jags point of view. I don't believe anyone associated with the Club could come up with a more appropriate or deserving man to honour than Davie. Big thumbs up then to the Weirs not just for their investment. It would be fully within their rights and completely understandable to name the complex after themselves.

Should build a wee stadium there and let the reserves and Rob Roy play there as they are having some problems getting a ground developed. I remember Thistle youngsters( including Archie), played their games in Kirkie a number of years ago.
Garscube Road End
Brilliant news. And they couldn't have a better and more fitting name for it. Davie McParland was a young manager and was ahead of his timevregardz the slick style of football played then.
Jagtastic
Fantastic news, although it will be interesting to see how the planning goes given that it's on/surrounded by a flood plain

East Dunbarton Council will be keen to give the permission as they were on a high when we were looking at Twechar as the three Glasgow clubs woiuld have all their training grounds in the area. Yeah there are flood defence bunds along the perimeter of a field further up at the housing but the land is downstream of that area so there will definitely need to be something in place. I'm sure EDC will have been very accommodating at the prospect. 2 minutes ago, Norgethistle said: I noticed that on the pictures but surely that has already been looked at seeing as we have announced the site There's no doubt it will be in the submission, just pointing that it's a notorious site for flooding and they'll have to convince SEPA as well as the planners that it can work. scotty
Also read that the vendor is retaining a small parcel of land and access will need to be documented. If they don't put a toll gate on it first.
