TJR, Have we ever played a team with 4 names?

Huntly if they win the replay would be brilliant! Any Highland League team still left in would also be perfect for me, we've not been up here for a while (Deveronvale a few years ago was the last visit I think? - not counting the Culter debacle!)

Brings back a memory for me, we played them around 1973 in the cup and it was my first visit there. Big Denis scored the only goal and I somehow lost a crown during the celebrations!

Also, the wonderful replay win in 89(?) when I had a bet on us at 10/1 that night. I was sure we'd win but decided not to risk a tenner and only put a fiver on :)

Re our 4 word name opponents...

A case could be made for Olympiacos Club of Fans of Piraeus, but their official name in Greek only has 4 words, one of which is "club", a word which should probably be ignored in this query. Ignoring strange one-off benefit hybrids and generic additions such as SK, FC, XI or Reserves, I find we've played six such clubs in the following year order:

Tenth Dunbartonshire Rifle Volunteers (1877) commonly known as 10th DRV

Third Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers (1884) commonly known as 3rd LRV

Vale of Leven Wanderers (1887)

First Renfrew Rifle Volunteers (1887) commonly known as 1st Renfrew RV

Queen of the South (1922)

Brighton and Hove Albion (1957)

1989. 1st match. Firhill. Sunny day.

I think we were losing 1-0 when a cross came over from the right (old stand). Right on to Peter Weir's napper.

The low sun blinded him completely. Funkin beauty! The rest is history and mccoys lovely header at Love St in the replay is one of my best memories.

Your memory is rather fuzzy as it ended 0-0 in the first game?

We emptied the William Hill coffers at Anniesland that night....lol. Put more on as it was pay day. What a night that was when we got back to the Esquire!

Away day to Paisley. Good day out.

Only thing is that they might have a new manager by that time!

Their manager took in the first half (maybe the full 90min) of the U20s today. Possibly looking at potential loanees?

Anyways decent enough draw. My only grump is the away stand at whatever their ground is called offers a poor view of the far end. Even up the back it's still quite a poor elevation.
