Yes i do realise some might say it will make our performances more bearable sometimes. I’m not sure people do feel that they need a drink during football, at least anymore than they need a drink while socialising generally. For many, football is their main social activity of the week with certain good friends and it’s often more enjoyable to have a drink while socialising with good friends, generally. For me it's about extending the day / trip and enjoying the place you're in and the company you're with for longer. I travel a fair way to most of the games I watch (Thistle and Scotland), and meet with friends and family for a beer and maybe even a bite to eat. I've done the 700 mile round trip to Glasgow and back a few times in the same day but it's far more enjoyable to stay up there and go out on the town. A close friend that travels with me feels the same way, so it's a no brainer. We hit upon the idea that we'd try a pub we'd never been in before each time we come up. The Sparklehorse in Partick was a rare find. As for drinking during the game, that's just to delay the hangover. Nothing worse than sobering up halfway through a game. lady-isobel-barnett
It's a very rare occasion when I don't go for a drink before a game. Then again if I don't go to a game nine times out of ten I'd be in the pub anyway. I'm not the least bit interested in whether drink is sold or not in stadiums during games. Kinda for it in principal but against in practice, if that makes much sense.

As i said in another thread i am teetotal and i have never understood why some insist that you need alcohol to be sociable, some of these people drink so much they haven't a clue what they did for a good bit of the night. Each to their own. I will raise a virtual pint glass to everybody on this forum and let's hope we all have something to celebrate with our tipple of choice come the end of the season.

A few years ago I was able to book tickets to see Hertha Berlin v Augsburg from the UK - and then sit with a litre of beer in the sunshine watching the game. Same in Japan. Throughout the match te beer sellers walk up and down the steps in the stands, and you just have to call them or walk over to them to buy what you want. For many (I think most), it's simply for the pleasure, adding to their enjoyment. The equivalent of somebody having a tea or coffee (or a couple of cups), but they prefer beer, or whatever other booze they prefer. It's the (proposed) denial of that pleasure which rankles. East Kent Jag II
According to the BBC the Commissioner has listened to the strong opinion against the busses review, and has "shelved" the review meantime. This may, though, return, when they actually do proper research. I trust Scottish Football will use the time this rubbish sits own the shelf to carry out their own review, and be prepared for the battle when it returns. lady-isobel-barnett
Don't agree with all these tribunals and non-departmental public bodies. Besides being totally outmoded in this day and age, they get completely wrapped up in their own imagined importance. Any more of this supporters bus nonsense and I've got a very good mind to take this to the Lord Lieutenant.

laukat
The support tonight was brilliant. The songs seems to get better every game and I'm having difficulty keeping up. Found myself still signing Darren Brownlie to the Wagon Wheel song. Can we not just bring Darren back to save me having to learn new things? The Kris Doolan song is immense. Loved the sound of the Tomi Adeloye song but could someone tell this old guy what the full words are?
