1971
Bloody heartbreaker. Soul destroying. Season over, in my opinion. Nonsense. It's gutting and hardly helps us, but we aren't going to lose any players before the end of the season and a quick and clever appointment will see us through. Guaranteed he will bring a few of our players with him at the end of the season though. My bets on O'Donnell, Erskine and maybe even Paton. Garscube Road End
Bloody heartbreaker. Soul destroying. Season over, in my opinion. Well, if the players have any pride then they will up their game and show that Jackie should never have left. We must now get behind whoever takes over.My question is how quick will board move on this. Archie and Shuggie to run things on Saturday, assuming that Donnelly is away with him. ColinKelvin
PS season is definitely NOT over - we have a great squad and, crucially, Morton are p1sh. Still all to play for - maybe the new regime will get our away form going...
AlgarveJag
3 days of the transfer window open and Sid likely to be the next announcement before we find out about Erskine et al.... Very disappointed and might have console myself in 17 pints of wife beater

Santana
Proper upset here. You can't begrudge him for taking the job though, it is a step up and I think he may see it is a stepping stone to the Celtic job.

ThickAsThieves
Just like everyone else, I'm gutted. Testament to the job he's done this season. Not just through the lofty position we find ourselves in, but the way we've gone about it. 5-1 Dunfermline, 7-0 Airdrie, in the final of the Ramsdens Cup for the first time and with a fantastic young squad. No wonder Dundee Utd have taken him - and I'm real sorry to see him go. It's a very tempting offer for him, of course. Thought the chance to lead us to the title would maybe sway him into staying but alas, it's not to be.
McKennan
Masterstroke by Beattie getting their release clauses improved last month... Shame he can't serve up a decent pie. Joking apart, I hope he's working his backside off finding a replacement that can lead the team to a cup win and promotion.
Norgethistle
Gutted, reminds of the 1st time Lambie went - up the top of the league, playing good football, buzz about the place (Thistle are rising again),
Armand2
Masterstroke by Beattie getting their release clauses improved last month... Let's look on the bright side, fellas. We're in a far better position than we were when Jackie took over; we have a great squad of players, some of whom are tied down beyond this season; we're still right in the mix for the title; we're in a domestic cup final; we're being run in a far more prudent way than before; two of our players have just been called up for international duty for the first time in years; and we've just made money on a manager for the first time in my life. Best of luck to Jackie. I fully expect him to come back for O'Donnell and possibly Erskine and Paton and I certainly don't begrudge those guys the chance of playing at a bigger club with a bigger pay packet. Forever and ever.

Forever and ever. Absolutely spot on. Let's cut the doom and gloom. It doesn't exactly help our season but there's no reason why we can't still win the league. Same players, same fans, same Thistle. watties wallies
A few points have just come to mind Thistle enhance jaggy macs conditions An earlier post suggests that his house wasp it up for sale A big slump in our form Maybe it was a done deal and was kept under wraps at firhill Anyway good luck to him but really a severe blow to us and for the rest of the season
upthejags
Let's hope the team can respond with a convincing win on Saturday to show us we can do it without jackie. Bloody dundee utd, I've never liked them since the playoffs back in the 90s!

chunky jag
I admire everyones positivity and obviously hope you are right, but Jackie was the x-factor that sparked all of this into action, making an appointment who can get in quick and keep it goin is going to be difficult to say the least
Hugh Janus
Oooft! Was inevitable that Jackie would go, but never expected it to happen 'during' this season. Feels like a kick in the balls! Hopefully we'll be spanking Utd in the SPHell next season... Ohhhhhh Jackie MacNamara, used to be a Jag but he's a ******** (insert as appropriate) now
Members Willjag
Interesting little quote from United chairman Stephen Thompson in this article on the BBC site yesterday..... "We've been working on it for the past wee while, quietly, behind the scenes." Jackie being tapped up for a while it looks like then.
