This game summed up our season for me. Poor start got back into it but lost it late on.Imo we still need a few points to be safe.Looking for Killie and Accies to lose tomorrow,if this happens with them playing each other at NDP next week we could be safe by this time net week.

Well that's made my mind up for attending the other games this season (well apart from the Hamilton one since its bevvy session) the players look uninterested and we deserve nothing from the game. A win for killie and we could find ourselves in real trouble. Sean Welsh is stealing a wage as a footballer. There was better standard in the firhill cup on Sunday.

Welsh the only one to blame for the 2nd goal?

How about 2 guys going towards one Dundee player?

Or Lindsay losing Hemmings?

Shot ourselves in the foot once again.

So toothless upfront.

Agree about big Liam his lack of pace at this level is going to curb his progression and after Welsh lost the ball he was caught wrong side of Hemmings . Not sure why Aiden Nesbitt started ahead of Amoo , was that to appease Celtic ?

Crazy subs from Archie again taking off Edwards who was probably the only midfielder closing people down ( I would have taken Welsh off ) and taking Doolan off after he's scored and still you're best bet to score an equaliser is bizarre at best, leaving us with the bundle of energy and goal scoring machine that is Pogba and the untried Kevin Nesbitt.

Bad day at the office for the Jags.

I'm willing to give the defenders some benefit of the doubt on the second goal. Certainly until I've seen the replay.

The way I read it Welsh is under no pressure what so ever and plays a pass back to Scully onto his weaker foot. Absolutely ****** criminal, in my book.

Scully has to change the shape of his run and body to get any worthwhile connection on it.

We get away with it and retain possession. Until for the umpteenth time, Welsh turns back to face the goal and again gets easily disposed between our 18 yard line and half way.

By this point our defenders are moving out. We are in possession. With our style of play they should be in space to be available for a pass from the defensive midfielders to switch the ball wide.

Being in space and available means they leave space between themselves and the attackers.

Welsh gives the ball away cheaply and Dundee are clean through with one pass.

As I say, I'll need to watch it again, and stand by, ready to ask myself what this post is all about. But that's how I recall it.

For reference I thought Welsh was terrible again for pretty much the whole match and I'm starting to get really annoyed with his inability to hit a first time or even second time pass. He is slowing our play down.

None of our midfielders are direct enough. Even when they do eventually move forward 9 times out of 10 they will turn back or knock it sideways which slows the whole move up.

Our delivery from the wings is hopeless, the cross which led to the goal came from our defensive midfielder.

Lindsay has had a lot of praise this year but I've never really been a fan. Slow, ponderous (not alone mind you) and lacks awareness.

Amoo's miss at the end summed it all up.

This

And what scary is that he seems to be one of the first picks week in week out. With the potential of losing banzo and osman this summer our basis of midfield could be him. That is a worrying thought.

Why on earth did Freddie not start, given the suspensions?

I think at the moment our best central defence partnership is Miller/Lindsay or Miller/Seaborne. That's not of course answering your question as the suspensions perhaps dictated changes in the central defensive partnership. Just pointing out why there was good reason not to shift Miller.

I've really now lost patience with Welsh.

I think we've all cut him some slack after his terrible injury saga but he simply adds nothing to the team apart from maybe one classy pass per game.

The fact that his name seems to be first on the team sheet every week astounds me.

He is slow, instinctively turns back every time he gets the ball, and seems to think he has all the time in the world.

As our main set-piece "specialist" he is completely hopeless.

Apart from the first corner that was taken short, all the others were mopped up easily by Dundee and his free kicks are similarly effective.

I realise he's not the only set-piece taker who should do better, but why not try someone else occasionally when Welsh's attempts are consistently naff?

Time for some extended bench time for him, please Archie.

Although we are not arithmetically safe and could still do a Hibs, I have felt pretty certain for a few weeks that we were

safe from relegation. For both sides and the crowd, it had the feel of a meaningless end of the season game - or a League

Game if they increase the Leagues to 18 clubs without a split - missing the edge of really needing a result.

On the balance of play, we probably merited a draw but we have had a few relatively fortunate wins at Firhill this season so can

hardly complain. Dumbuya was outstanding on the ball but was on the wrong foot/position more than once - the Dundee guy had

a huge amount of time and space to pick out the cross for their first goal. Welsh yet again dwelt on the ball and was

caught in possession for their second.

I actually thought they were the two players who tried to drive the side forward - Welsh played two good through balls but

Doolan made a hash of both of them. I don't know if Osman was carrying an injury but he was even more ponderous than usual

although it was an expectedly good jink & cross for our goal.

Lawless was very good in flashes and Scully made two excellent saves but that is about it for positives. I still hope Lindsay

will develop into a good player but he seems a bit tentative which is not a good quality for a central defender. I will need

to watch it on TV to make a proper assessment but he seemed to be posted missing for the second goal.

Aiden Nesbitt was supposedly a wonderboy when he signed but has not shown much. I'm not sure why we are giving

game time to develop a Celtic Player who doesn't look ready for this level.

We have signed Amoo, Pogba, Edwards & Elliot(who was ok at right back)for next season - that doesn't fill me with much

confidence or enthusiasm particularly if Bannigan, Lawless & Osman move on.

My take on playing Nesbitt. With the impending departure of Ronnie, this guy might be available next season and Archie wanted to have another look at him. I don't think he was very good yesterday and that is now 2 out of 3 times he has been poor.

Overall yesterday, I think we were fortunate to lose by just 1. Several times Stewart,Hemmings and Harkins combined and they were through on goal. A combination of bad finishing and good saves by Scully kept the score down. 2nd half as usual we were much better and after we scored were on the front foot, but lack the ability to get shots even on target.

It is fair to say that Dundee must love playing us. How many goals has Hemmings scored against us this season.

Yesterday was an opportunity to finish as high up the table as possible. The extra prize money that 7th place would have brought in could have paid for the couple of players we need to start next season better than this. We blew it and now need to rely on other teams below us. It's scary that the best results for us today will mean us dropping another place.

It is what it is. I don't think we'll get relegated, but we needed all our best players playing at their best in most games to have any chance of making the top six and when we're even slightly off the pace, as we were yesterday, we struggle. We need to add three players to the squad who are better than any we curently have to be in with a shout of top six next season - or, given the possible make-up of the league, be in with a chance of avoiding finishing in the bottom two. Okay, Archie, over to you...

Just watched it on YouTube and even though Welsh is wrong side and chasing back Muzzy is well positioned to simply step onto the ball and put it into touch, he backs off instead. The ball is played forward into space and Lindsay's lack of pace is apparent as Hemmings strolls away from him without ever really needing to accelerate. So all in all the failings of multiple players played a major part in their second goal.

I really dislike Welsh as much as anyone but realistically without banzo or fraser there just isn't an alternative at the moment. Putting Miller in there would just be depressing and Wilson is poor aswel.

Agree. Though I think in an emergency Miller could be decent cover for Osman - as a purely defensive midfielder. The other deep midfield position needs to be someone who is decent on the ball and can pass, to get us moving forward, Welsh does that job quite well actually, the problem is his propensity to make mistakes - all players do but he seems to make more and in dangerous areas.

Nesbit was a big disappointment to me. He showed some neat trickery a few times but never seemed to have the pace or drive to be really dangerous. Don't know if he lacks this or if he's just not motivated enough to try 100% for our team. Either way I thought Amoo should have been on earlier for him. Unless the boy shows more in the last few games (if he gets a game) I'd not be interested in getting him on loan for next season. Our team is too limited to afford any luxury players: everyone needs to be trying thier utmost.

Completely agree, he was brought here to toughen up yet is more yellow than a maryhill junkies teeth, example yesterday when dumbaya runs 60 yards skinning player after player, gets tackled and Nesbit sh*tes a 50/50 for the breaking ball.

It was a ' I don't want injured before going back to sellick' moment.

Not here next season, please Archie play people who will be.
