Less at least £1m plus .....cheers Archie

but avoid giving g any evidence to your generalisations

Ok so revenue at best in Championship is circa £1.7 mn - if we get relegated its in the region of £1.2 mn

So its prudent to have cast iron gaurantees ref the cost of the training ground linked to income - there was no confirmation thaf this was happening ( or even thought about )

the plan is promotion this Season

A lot of argument and counter argument. What cant be disputed , we have went from being a club that looked like establishing itself as a long term Premier league team, to a team that could suffer double relegation in the space of less than 2 years. This has been caused by mismanagement in both the boardroom and changing room.

Fair question -I would have invested in a Director of Recruitment with a proper Scouting Network not an Academy - have well funded teams from 16 onwards - nothing more - have them playing in European Tournaments on a regular basis

advertised the Youth Academy roles wide and far and recruited the best from whatever Country

Set up a Futures Fund along the lines of the one described by Stolen Scone

have set targets that if the Club didnt meet them - no more funding

Most Sports get funding linked to performance so thats standard practice

Set up a seperate investment trust board to supervise the cash going in and what the returns were - focus on long term sustainability of the Club - Football and none Football

Upgrade the toilets in the JHS

the key is performance targets that have to be met and having a seperate supervisory board for the investment

Plenty of teams with "proper" scouting networks and whatever a "Director of Recruitment" might be (sounds like a cushy number for somebody) surely end up getting relegated. How might that be due to people like the Weirs, I wonder....

Is your position literally that being debt free is worse than being in debt?

You'll rarely get barred from your local if you owe the pub some dosh. Keep your name up on the slate and when you get a bit out of order it'll amaze you how much leeway the landlord gives you.

Kinda irrelevant to the subject matter. So carry on, team!

If you get free money then there is little or no incentive on things like getting bums on seats etc as the shortfall is being made up - it leads to complaceny and lack of drive and innovation - that permeates on multi levels

We were promoted on half of the budgeted turnover we have for this year

More eggnog nonsense

Where would you suggest we train then ? How much would that cost ?

Your back garden maybe ?

We currently pay circa £125K for the first Team - previously it was circa £60 - 70K  - we were promoted and survived a Season in the Premier prior to moving to West of Scotland therefore what we had obviously worked

What is your point ? Paying £125k for our brand new training facility which we pay now anyway is wrong because we paid less in the past ? We paid less for everything in the past!

will the centre be value for money , will it help even a little bit ..., yes

time you stopped whining

At least someone on this thread speaking some common sense that everyone agrees with.

Whatever people’s views are, there is usually a lot of truth behind what JJ says.

I agree. JJ makes a lot of good points.  It's not about whether the weir cash is welcomed, or well intentioned, or potentially beneficial (of course it is).

It is whether it has actually helped us. Unfortunately i suspect that it may possibly have contributed to the complacency and mismanagement that has led to where we are now.

That, of course, is no fault of the weirs
