The analysis of and players' access to their data is going to disrupt the market for players soon. It will become less of a guessing game and less dependent on who knows whom.

This data can also work against players, though, if their performance stats begin to deteriorate.

Dools got more from the players than before. I think McCall had run out of ideas.

In hindsight, if we’d made the change earlier, perhaps we could have challenged Dundee for top spot.

It’s all a guessing game for us about what went on around the turn of the year. Maybe the reality of the financial situation hit home for the club which resulted in those performances, particularly vs Hamilton and Cove ?

Possibly the case. Although tbh I felt McCall had run out of ideas in Spring 2022 as we stuttered towards the first playoffs.

If my info is correct the players were well aware of the situation before the Rangers game. So, yes, I don't suppose they were in the best of minds motivationally around that time.

Aidan featured as a trialist for us in all pre-season games - he didn't put pen to paper on a contract until closer to the season start but he was present for all of pre-season and featured in all of the games.

Just because a few people suggested he was going out the door including you doesn’t mean it was going to happen.  He was still contributing more than some, and had become an easy scapegoat he was injured at the end of the previous season with QOS and didn’t have a full pre season with us either.

howeever I do agree that Doolan has been far far better at getting Firzys confidence up and the best out of him than McCall was.  Not just Fitzy but several of the players

Agree with your final paragraph. Glad we can finish our exchange on amicable terms.

Josh Kerr, 25 year old defender, released by Bohemians and also ex Airdrie and Celtic U20, will train with us this week. At 25 seems to have struggled to establish himself.

Perhaps an exception to prove a rule but I was led to believe that Dools already knows the players he wants to bring in. Don't think we'll see many trialists.

That would be slightly worrying if that is the level we are targeting. Another (relatively) short CB with very limited experience at this level.

Maybe he knows who he wants but with 7 trialists tonight maybe he can’t get them

To add, just heard Doolan interview and 3 of the trialsts are academy players

Obviously I want any new signing to be a success at the Club. None more so than this lad https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/23641979.williams-key-partick-thistle-support-partner-battles-cancer/

Indeed!

On the football side it’s curious to read that Doolan was tracking him since January… when McCall was still manager…
