Jag
I think a right back (Muzzy has not played in any of the 4 games so far), centre back and a forward would be what we are looking for. The sooner they can be brought in the better as we don't want to get off to another poor start in the league. Pretty sure that if Dumbuya wasn't in Archie's plans he would have gone for O'Donnell. Who knows, maybe he did, but would like to think he would have come back to Firhill rather than Killie.
Alan Murray
Anybody know what injury Dumbuya has and how long he will be out?
lithgaejag
Not sure but probably the same niggling injury as last year. If he is going to be out for a while we need a replacement as we can't have Elliot there for most of the season. I also thought muzzy wasn't that great last year (certainly not as good as in his first season) but I will put that down to having a niggling injury
Mr Bunny
Left sided defender doesn't necessarily mean left footed. Christie Elliott has played left back on occasion for us on occasion and he is certainly not left footed. Christie as we all know has a terrific attitude. To my mind it is a mental attitude. A few guys are genuinely 2-footed but most aren't; however some let that bother them so they are afraid to use their weaker foot. But unless a player is trying to spray 30 yard passes he ought to be able to play the basics of his position using either foot - though I notice Christie sometimes tackles right footed when on the left but that's OK as he usually gets it right and that's the important thing. Woodstock Jag
I'm sure that, if there was a player who was right-sided, but was better on his left-side than another defender who was better on their left-side than their right, Archie would choose the former. But the natural distribution of acceptable to good centre-backs means that, in general, players with a slight left-side bias will be better as a left-sided centre-back than someone with a slight right-side bias. So, on average, he's looking for a left-sided centre back. It's not rocket science.
stillresigned
Two 0-0 draws in a row , the defence is fine, we need a feckin striker! Whoever would have guesses?

Just asking......
lithgaejag
I never suggested to ditch the player. All I said is that if this continues we should be looking at getting another right back as I would rather have another right back than Elliot (who adapted to the position very well last year but isn't so strong defensively). But Archie and the backroom staff know more about it and can make a good judgement and I trust their decision

lithgaejag
Oh. Sorry. I see now. Misunderstood your post. I reckon when he is non stop out of action and becoming a waste of a wage is the time to get rid off a player. But as I said before Archie and the backroom staff have more information and can make a more accurate judgement and i trust them to make the right decision . I hope that muzzy can go the whole season uninjured and find his previous form but it doesn't look likely. Am I right that he has 1 year left on his contract? MonehJags
Welsh eventually had a decent run after overcoming his injuries, I hope this season is Fraser's turn. The only time I've saw him in the past 2 years was up the Fort last September. Dumbuya needs a run of games, he is another that specialises in being injured. If both cant get into double figures in appearances by the end of the year, both need punted.
lithgaejag
Yes I agree. I think Fraser is going to find it difficult competing with Banzo, Osman and Barton for places but I miss the constant cries of "shoot" every time he is on the ball Edited July 10, 2017 by lithgaejag

I think Fraser is going to find it difficult competing with Banzo, Osman and Barton for places but I miss the constant cries of "shoot" every time he is on the ball I have a vague memory that Fraser once played as a defender - full back? Maybe not as a main position, just filling in but is it something he could do well? Might be good at overlapping and getting crosses in. Weebaw1
I dont think we appreciate the work rate of Booth and Christie, and ATS and SOD before them.up and down the touchline all day. Fraser has ability(and perhaps pace) but I cannot imagine him bustin a gut like those mentioned above.

lithgaejag
I would definitely take Storey. Young, fast and only 23. Wouldn't be hard to beat Azeez's goalscoring record (and he has scored more goals at firhill than him) and Storey managed to get into double figures at Inverness when he 21 Edited July 11, 2017 by lithgaejag
King Kenny
Dumbuya has had surgery on a new knee injury, out for a few months. Looks like we'll be adding a full back to the list of players we're after.
