So you have been wrong? I've just had a brief read of the thread on the Hamilton game ( think it was the last game we lost ). Not many of the posters who called for his head have said much as the current momentum has built. Strange that.

Wouldn’t necessarily say I’ve been wrong with my judgement, especially performance wise.

Let’s be honest we haven’t played great football .. when we have got a result it’s been a grind.

Score line wise it was fantastic, but if we had won 2-1 today I could have still came away saying.. okay maybe it just needed a bit of time. But depends on the next few performances.

Perhaps the most encouraging thing is feeling a bit disappointed we only scored five and that there is scope for improvement on the performance. We started with real verve but then dropped intensity before conceding a comedy goal with several bad decisions from a good attacking position...I had just been thinking that Roberts would surely be caught out some time this season by being too casual with clearances.

Hamilton looked awful...and not just their strips. A huge contrast between Ashcroft defending his box and fairly easy goals we scored. They look a relegation zone side and we are improving into strong play-off candidates...and maybe Falkirk will falter.

Still don't see any merit in Crawford...Turner & McBeth were more effective in their short spells in midfield. Good to see Lawless back.

Thought Crawford put in a decent performance today, but agree McBeth is on a different level.  Can't understand how he's not getting a game.

Was also pleasing to see the team weren't intimidated by yon incredible pyrotechnic display at kick off.

This seems to being treated as a joke, but when i seen it happening i was shocked. The Colin Weir stand is a wooden stand and although there was not a lot of pyrotechnics it could have been very serious.

A couple were dropped in between rows rather than chucked on to the concrete concourse. Not the brightest bunch

Although Robert’s is getting pelters for the goal, the pass back was way too short which gave O’Hara time to close him down. It was a horrendous goal to lose right from the moment Turner decided to pass back to Bannigan ?

Ashcroft was outstanding today. He was my motm but on a day we score 5 it had to go to a forward and no complaints as Robbo gave us a great start a played well throughout.

Also Logan Chalmers is really improving which is good to see. It will be interesting to see if Dools changes things around to accommodate both him and Stevie. Especially as Fitzy isn’t at his best just now (even with a great assist for the 5th)

And 1st

Agree with this. Roberts was maybe guilty of trying to be too cute with his pass instead of launching it but every pass the Jags chose from the time we had it high up on the right wing, was either the wrong one or under hit. It was during a period of play where we seemed to take our foot off the gas.

No harm done yesterday but a lesson for future games.

At last we had a convincing victory to enjoy. Good performance, great result and could have been more. Dominant display, out with the last ten minutes of first half. 19 shots on goal, which far exceeds any 90 minutes this season by far. Good to go home happy.

Thankfully the shambolic goal we lost didn't cost us. Roberts was again great throughout the game, but didn't cover himself in glory here. However, it was a poor pass by O'Reilly and, in turn, he should never have been receiving the ball from the attacking position we were in.

We looked a danger from just about every set piece, deliveries from Turner and Chalmers much improved. Our pressing was fantastic as well, intensity was a lot higher than it has been in recent weeks. We recovered the ball well all game.

All goals, especially Graham's two, were well taken and Logan Chalmers deserved his for the effort he put in. Difficult not to give MOTM to a forward player - given there were two doubles - but Lee Ashcroft was absolutely outstanding. A flawless performance that deserves more credit. Banzo and Robbie Crawford were strong and Kyle Turner was more of a threat going forward at RB than anything we've seen since Jack McMillan left.

I would have preferred getting subs on earlier. If you're not going to give guys a decent run out when you're 5-1 up and cruising, when are you going to?

Two assists from Fitzpatrick but the less said about the rest of his performance - especially off the ball - the better.

Big test next week at Cappielow that I think will tell us how far we have come. I said earlier in the season that I didn't think we were capable of going on a winning run that would see us challenge at the top but four out of the last five and unbeaten in seven is great form, on paper at least. The last two weeks have seen much improved performances and fans will now be more optimistic of our chances. Especially if we go to Greenock and win.

Great result, I think our team is beginning to look a bit more settled now.

And even when one member of the apparently settled first choice XI is injured, we can re-deploy roving agent Turner and call up secret agent Crawford.

With Lawless, Ablade, McBeth and Muirhead all pushing to get in (and I would have no concerns about playing any of them from the start), the bench is also becoming very strong with plenty of options.

We now have four of our five wingers available. The improvement in form of Chalmers is very possibly down to Stevie Lawless being back, and him having to up his game. Interested to see how it pans out as they both fight for that spot.

Would love to see Chalmers on the left and Stevie on the right but clearly Doolan is never going to drop Fitzpatrick, while playing that formation. Hope McKay is back soon.

Chalmers has done well since coming back into the starting line-up against Airdrieonians.

I think playing in front of Megwa and Kyle Turner yesterday has suited his style. There maybe other factors. Even being dropped can give a player a wake up call or as you say a challenger for their place on the training ground. Whatever the combination I'm glad we're seeing the player we hoped for emerging.

Fitzy as usual was double or even triple marked yesterday in the first-half but that switched to Chalmers second-half.

I noticed BBG give Aiden a gee up at the kick-off following the 4th goal. He then goes and tees up Brian for his second goal shortly after.

If they all keep upping their game we might end up playing a 2-3-5 😆

Re the wide players. I'd expect Chalmers to start ahead of Wee Stevie for a game or so. After that whoever starts will regularly be subbed for the other. Fresh legs to keep up the intensity.

As jagfox says Fitzpatrick was getting double marked yesterday. Not an unusual occurrence and reminiscent of the treatment given to Tiffoney. Even if Aiden isn't playing well he's still freeing up space to exploit elsewhere in attack. And being two footed more or less guarantees he'll take more than one marker. Personally I feel he gets over criticised on too many occasions but that' another matter. If anything yesterday he suffered from a rare breakdown with his partnership with Milne. Felt nothing was coming off for Harry in attack. Even at that Aiden still managed two goal assists. Maybe not MotM but a valuable contribution all the same.

He was close to a goal and got in a few decent positions. His header was unlucky as he got a great connection but anywhere else on target it would have been a goal. Also keeps going right to the end.

Still a solid 7 or 8 out of ten for me.

Just had another look at that.  We were well up the park, with players in good positions.  Instead of making a pass or moving forward, Kyle & Banzo started passing the ball backwards.  Eventually Dan chose to pass back to Myles, who was about the last in the stadium to realise the pass was well underhit, and completely mismanaged his clearance.

I actually blame Kyle & Banzo more than Dan & Myles.  The ball should never even been in our half.
