Farcical decision

Attendance more than 1000???

Surely the decision is made by the referee on the basis of whether the pitch is playable. I assume that the referee has decided the pitch playable. Why else should the game be postponed? Even the streets are nowhere near as icy as last Saturday (having been dry all week).

I get the decision that the pitch is playable, but what about the players and the spectators out there in temperatures of minus 5 or possibly more by the end of the game.. would you have a golf competition or a tennis match be played in the same conditions ???.. it's only daft football players hay ho....

Around the time covers will have to come off the temperature will be well below zero and pitch could get very hard in no time.

Anyway, we have to prepare as if it is going ahead. Looking out my long johns as we speak.

Freezing cold night, Thistle current form and performances are miserable, played at a terrible venue against a team we need to beat.

This has all the components required to give El Classico a run for its money.

or conversely a 1-0 win for Hamilton, no shots on target for either team just a 93rd minute own goal and Brian Graham sent off for complaining about the goal.

I have no idea why I'm going, this Thistle addiction is a real problem.

The good people of Green Bay, Buffalo, Detroit, Minnesota etc are laughing at us (if they knew who we were) while they watch 4 hour NFL games in freezing conditions.

15 fans hospitalized after sitting through freezing Chiefs-Dolphins game | Fox News

Amateurs. With the game televised and no winter heating allowance we can get people hospitalised without having to pay money to attend the game.

Surely there is a point where your body is screaming at you to leave a sporting event before hospitalisation.

This scenario is, of course, a complete figment of my imagination and definitely hasn't happened, nor will happen.

Nameless local ref turns up at lunchtime, pockets his pitch inspection fee, takes a cursory look at the pitch, shrugs his shoulders and goes 'looks okay to me' because as it isn't ultimately down to him whether the game is on or off he doesn't care one way or the other.

The actual match officials turn up circa 6pm. As they are the ones directly in the firing line if someone picks up a serious injury, live on TV, due to the pitch they quite properly take a long look at the surface. Examine in detail any potential 'problem' spots.

Deciding to be cautious they decide it isn't worth the risk and circa 60 minutes before kick-off they call the game off pissing everyone off.

I'm sure none of the above will actually happen tonight.

Last season it used to be the point that Bannigan was getting warmed up to appear as a sub as you knew it would only go downhill from there

This season we start poor and you assume it must get better so I get fooled into staying until the end.

Lithuania v Scotland in 2003 - U21 game in Vilnius.

-17 degrees.

Too cold to even clap but somehow no-one seemed to leave before the final whistle.

Temperature to be -5°C by kick off and game is live on TV.

The only people going to this are either young or stupid. And I'm not young. See you there.
