sb1876
English commentators just don't learn, arrogant tw*ts, this will be a stain on every England players record! England's worst defeat ever! What a joke and showing no respect for the opposition. Poor performance from them but well done Iceland.

angry gaz
England were too obsessed with attacking down the flanks. Two attacking fullbacks and a winger then he takes off Rooney and plays Rashford down the wing too. Easy for a packed iceland defence to head away all these wide crosses into the box. Shockingly poor tactics from Hodson. Kane taking set pieces what the feck was that about. So many images from that game reminded me of Ally Mcleod in the Iran 78 game Hope Archie was watching that. A lot of lessons in how to defend and how not to attack. Edited June 27, 2016 by angry gaz
thebiglemon
Speaking of defenders, Seaborne still has no club. I think a lot of fans underestimated his importance. Good leader at the back, will to win, organiser etc Wasn't he supposed to be going to Rangers?
lady-isobel-barnett
I can't help but admire the comic timing of Steve McLaren. He fully deserves to get a TV show of his own https://twitter.com/...556177828020224

sandbank boy
I'll admit to having a wee smile on my face this morning but I'm conscious of the fact this was tournament Scotland couldn't even qualify for and blowing someone else's candle out doesn't make yours shine any brighter. We certainly are RS and I'm wary that we won't be smiling for long if they skelp us twice.
Dick Dastardly
True, but I hope that WGS has noted that England struggled every time to break down a well organised defence. If we can play with our heads rather than our hearts,I think that we can take them. I know we will then lose home and away to Malta, but I do think that we can beat them. It wasn't just an organised defence though. Iceland played at a high tempo when they had the ball.(as have Wales) England didn't seem to like the direct approach

Blackpool Jags
We didn't make it to France, then again neither did Holland. We mostly made a decent fist of trying to get through from an extremely difficult group. I'm not ashamed that we didn't make it to the tournament proper. Would've loved to have made it just the same. ian_mac
Iceland also played with 2 up front for much of the match and pressed England really high. Hodgson just wasn't expecting them to do either of those things and was totally spooked by it. They had no answer at all. Getting caught out with the long throw as well was so poor. Everyone had highlighted this threat pre-match - hard to believe England never worked on defending it.
