Return to Stadiums in September

If you firmly believe that such accolades can be given with a straight face in this global mess then you have been a bit hasty in bestowing it to the FM.

If you're looking for a PM who has, as you say, played a blinder then look to someone like Jacinda Ardern in NZ

However in the absolute shambles that has been the UK and its lamentable response to this virus, Nicola Sturgeon has just been the most competent looking of a sad decrepit bunch  of UK politicians - no need for a special award.

Someone the NZ folk are tearing to shreds for being useless hmm...

Not true. Her popularity ratings are high. She has been receiving global recognition for her approach to Covid19 and her compassionate leadership.

Just one example was the way she dealt with the aftermath of the Christchurch mosque attack. She met the relatives, showed cultural respect and refused to give the killer any status by not using his name.

@gianlucatoni is bang on the money here. If Scotland had a leader like Jacinda Arden, we’d be much better off; and football stadia would have reopened by now.

It’s not in Scandinavia. Ops, screening  and counseling etc carried on as normal

I am sure there are exceptions, where the situation hasn’t been as bad as the U.K. like Scandinavia. On the other hand there are countries like Brazil where the situation is worse.

The Covid strategy of NZ and Scotland are essentially the same the key difference being it’s easier for NZ to isolate itself than Scotland and we are connected to a useless govt in Westminster .....if you look at performance of Scotland since we distanced ourselves from England and went our own way and set up our own SAGE then every metric has improved and so far the exit from lock down is going well  .....we now have the lowest cases per 100000 of any U.K. nation .....just look at the differences in the performances of track and trace

care homes were a problem but just about every country has struggled with them from Sweden to US to Canada to Germany and now in Victoria

in terms of fans at football matches we will be having that shortly behind some countries and ahead of others which seems fine .....the big assumption is the football authorities can make it work.....

The rugby pilot seemed to go well.

I guess it's getting a foundation and building confidence to all for this to get traction as it builds up slowly.

Still think people need to be smart.  Its individuals doing the right thing which is more important than any government or other body planning.

what % of capacity is allowed in tonight

It appears only the Hordner (Ultra group if you could call it) are in the safe standing area, a couple of hundred, with 50 -100 across other 3 sides. So less than 5%

One stand at the Brest game against Marseille is full. Wee nippy won’t be allowing fans in in any great numbers soon. New Zealand may well have almost eliminated the virus but their economy which relies on tourism even more than ours will be destroyed. What’s the point in living in a place like that if you turn your economy into something akin to Zimbabwe.

So how many tourists do you think will be travelling to Rio de Janerio anytime in the next couple of years?

To Rio probably not many. But they’re maybe just going to end up with herd immunity as so many of them get it. The virus isn’t just going to go away and we might just need to try and get on with it. For the vast majority the virus is statistically no risk but our governments and media have made us think its an automatic death sentence. Crowds should be allowed back. If you’re scared don’t go. If you’re not then go. I’m more scared of thistles football than the virus

NZ family and friends, She will be voted back in though because she has a weak challenger in Judith Collins. A bit like how Boris got in with that weak willy Corbyn.

Tbh I think she’s taking more qualified advice and Scotland will have fans at games before England .....she’s playing a blinder

A blinder?  Sorry mate, but tell that the to the families of 2000+ people who died in scottish care homes as a result of her authorising 800 old people being discharged from hospitals to care homes without Covid tests.

At least she has had the integrity to acknowledge that this may have been a catastrophic mistake.

while NZ looks rosy to outsiders it has come at a huge cost which very few here have actually grasped. As mentioned tourism is a huge part of the NZ economy & with the borders remaing closed will be coming home to roost very soon with the end of furlough schemes. Huge unemployment is round the corner & the country is building a huge debt with a small older population that will never be able to repay without massive tax increases or huge reduction in public spending which gets back to reason why NZ shut down so quickly was the health system does not have capacity or facilities to cope with large number of covid cases.

50% of all deaths in NZ were in care homes ....

Stopped reading at "Wee nippy."

I prefer adult-levels of discussion.

Interesting to note that yesterday in Victoria there were 15 fatalities 14 of which were in care homes .....maybe protecting people in care homes isn’t as easy as some people think
