Morton were better than I expected and we were poorer. Worrying aspect for me was how much space in midfield we gave them. But that's no real surprise when there's no ball wining midfielders.

Perhaps we have to put McBeth back in there and let Ashcroft get fully up to speed? Doubtful we’ve got the funds for a RB, CF and a DMF..

New keeper looked good as clearly confident. Chalmers looked a lot better today particularly first half. Milne was good, McBeth and O'Reilly were steady. There ends the positives.

Roberts distribution made Jamie Sneddon look good. Every single one was a long ball to Graham or Robinson to pull out the sky.. I could get that he was new and didn't know we want the ball our quickly so we can play on the deck by why on earth did someone not say something to him at half time? Saw Kenny Arthur out at halftime firing shots in at him, surely to good he should have been pointing out where we want the ball to go. We have the 2 best midfielders in the league and our game plan today was to shell balls over their heads towards a Morton back line that does one thing very well - defend high balls. If that genuinely was the game plan then someone needs to have a word with Doolan and McDonald.

Williams was genuinely awful. Have we learned nothing from the Clyde game? We got away with him at Motherwell as he didn't have to get forward and MacKay did the attacking play all by himself but as great a character as he is he's just not a good enough option at rightback and I don't really see him getting in at centreback ahead of the 4 other centrebacks we have. Turner got booked in the second half trying to rescue Williams first touch and if we keep playing him at rightback he's going to cause even more problems.

The rest of the team weren't really in the game as at bar a 30 minutes spell in the first half we never established control of the ball.

Lastly Colin Steven is a terrible referee. His decisions confused the players on both sides and for a match that didn't have a bad tackle in it he struggled to maintain control. I think we were due a penalty in the first half for handball of a Williams throw in but that was more one his assistant should have spotted. Steven's  inability to get basic decisions correct and willingness to stop the game for players that weren't injured was infuriating. The one that stuck in my mined was Chalmers getting hauled to the ground by his collar and the ref played advantage to Morton...

Really slow start from us. JET should've scored from the poor back pass from McBeth, but Roberts did well to block. Have our defenders learned nothing from the Clyde game regarding passing back. We did play ourselves into it and in the last 15 minutes of the first half we were well on top, with a few just going past the post, their keeper had a few good saves and we also had a strong penalty shout when the ball hit one of their players on the hand in the box. Second half i thought was even. Morton much better than i expected, ref was terrible.

Lacklustre. Disappointingly Morton were not the familiar hacking ruffians though they did have some of the clumsiest, least athletic players I've seen for some time. They looked like a side who will be hovering around the relegation play-off zone. They were well worth their point.

I didn't share the initial enthusiasm for the new signings - would rather see players with potential (including our own youngsters) than journeyman pros. McBeth is better as a central defender - don't think Ashcroft was needed. I thought Crawford was awful in his previous spell - today he filled the Alston/McInroy role...on the pitch but contributing nothing. We've known McMillan was leaving months ago but don't have a right back.

Roberts first serious action was a very good save and he looked the part. He can hoof the ball a long way & quite accurately but a quick short pass is often a better option. Turner is a good footballer and Fitzpatrick a talented but frustrating one.

Graham was way off the pace...presumably Big Ricco is still not allowed to come on as sub.

Really don't know what to make of that today, so forgive me if the following rant seems random: in presentation

We played better last week against superior opponents.

We did not force a save of any consequence from the opposition goalie. Behind a defence that contained Broad Kirkfoot as its main man.

Our passing is not as crisp as it was last season, and there's been a sudden introduction of both the long punt and the long diagonal.

Our right side is a major weakness going forward. Wasiri and Logan are on different wavelengths, as demonstrated by the number of times moves broke down on that side throughout the game.

At the risk of being harsh, Logan Chalmers has done nothing (yet) to convince he is even an inadequate stand-in for Stevie Lawless. That said, he put in a couple of delicious crosses from the LEFT in the last 5-6 minutes. Worth switching him and Aidan for a couple of games??

To get the best out of BBG/Scott Robinson as a partnership, we really need to playing on the ground, whether through  the wings or through the middle. The aerial bombardment route from the back does not play to their strengths.

Where was Daniel Mackay?

And finally - can we please get rid once and for all that atrociously embarrassing 'McTears the Auctioneers' announcement. It was noticeably absent when David Mitchell went off badly injured v Clyde. Consigning it to the annals of a waste bin forever would be a blessed relief. Any Thistle player leaving the field deserves far better than that turgid apology for sponsorship.

Disappointing performance, particularly in the second half.

Crawford is not the answer at CM from what I’ve seen…I’d much prefer Macbeth back in there asap.

Milne MOM by a mile.

Doolan has to take the blame for today…had no interest in changing it up when the changes were pretty obvious. Subs he eventually made were ridiculous.

Williams was ok but has limited ability at RB… 2 of our best opportunities broke down with him in the killer area.

Need a RB as a priority….until then it has to be Mackenzie IMO

Someone posted on Facebook that MacKay is out for a couple of months with a knee injury

A knee injury likely to be a while.

I thought O'Reilly and Milne stood out. I think Wasiri getting too much stick - a few things just didn't come off which on another day could have been the difference. Morton defence was quite good too.

My main frustration was with lack of subs - there's no way Brian Graham should have been on the pitch the full 90. Need to trust the subs. Otherwise why have them? And how's Diack going to develop?

Any news on Muirhead's injury ? I would have him at rightback instead of Williams assuming we don't do the obvious thing of signing a right back.

Doolan says he’d b fine for next week. Today just came too soon for him

Agree with what most people on here have said. Essentially, it was a very insipid and uninspiring performance. Thought that we only imposed ourselves in the last 15 minutes of the first half, then died a death for the remainder of an entirely forgettable match.

The big issue for me yesterday was lack of movement.
Whether Milne or Wasari went forward there was no one to pass to, hence we ended up going long which suited Morton. Midfield was missing till Banzo came on.
Defensive wise we played ok going forward was poor, with neither winger at the game and Graham getting no service bar long high balls punted at him, can understand why keeper (who I thought played good) went long, as he had fear playing ball out short would result in Milne or Wasari loosing possession when trying to get forward as no out ball.
