New league season kicks off on the back of a mixed and controversial league cup campaign.

Hopefully Kris can use any anger from Comet-gate to fire up the boys that little bit extra on Saturday.

C'mon the Jags!

Why would or should they need extra firing up? It's the first league game of the season they should be raring to go and totally up for it.

A little extra incentive doesn't hurt  - even 1% difference.

1-0 Jags Turner.  But SFA to notice grass length discrepancy and award 0-3 defeat instead.

The young guns in the JL were too noisy, so only the City End could be used.

A rule change was hastily voted in to allow rushy in and 10 half time 21 the winner.

We were skins.

Have we tried McKay in place of Fitzpatrick yet ? Is that what you mean - McKay on the left ? I am sure Chalmers played on the left for Inverness against us and was pretty effective.

Generally agree, with a few small questions:

  • Possibly Roberts in goal if looking really good and ready. However, I would have no qualms with McCready continuing for the moment, and allowing Roberts more time to acclimatise.
  • Maybe start with Crawford (did well v Motherwell), but bring Bannigan on at an appropriate time.
  • I would probably keep McKay and Fitzpatrick on the right and left wings at the start, with the option to bring Chalmers on early enough to make a realistic impact (which might involve some switching of wings).

Think Roberts will start in goals. Crawford over Banagan after decent performance last week.
Seen no reason to start Chalmers ahead of Aidan.

Crawford or Stanway over Bannigan. Fitz has to play, Chalmers on the bench

Clearly not based on the numbers here who think we just need to turn up to thrash Morton. Never a good sign for The Jags.

If I predict a victory for Thistle (which I have done!) it is not because I think we just have to turn up and/or that we will "thrash" Morton. I am sure that it will be a tight and hard fought game against a team and a manager (not to mention supported by fans) who always seem to be extra incentivised when playing Thistle, and if we are not at our best we will not win. However, on the balance of probabilities my hope and expectation is that we will be on decent form and we will dig out a narrow victory.
