Dark Passenger
Maximum respect. Read that and hang your head in shame, Beattie. Â The Club has received a set of papers in advance of the SFL meeting on Tuesday. The essential intent behind those papers is to induce the SFL clubs to agree a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the SFL in the 1st Division in exchange for a range of structural changes to the current set up and some small financial inducements. Some of the proposed changes have merit in principle. Â The Board believe that any proposals for change should not be rushed, as these have been. They also have to be done by consensus and not through threat or inducement, again, as these have been. Â The papers include a proposal to allow a Newco to enter the 1st Division. This is contrary to the rules of the SFL and nothing within the papers justifies this proposal. Â As a club owned by its supporters and recovering from having been on the brink of extinction, the Board of Clyde Football Club recognise the damage done to the credibility of Rangers Football Club by its successive owners, and the subsequent impact on staff and supporters. These proposals do nothing to restore that credibility. Â It is not for us to become involved in punishment, that is a matter for the SPL and SFA. The SFL clubs are being asked to change their rules so that the SPL and SFA can apply sanctions that fit short term financial interests. Â It is not for us to tell any club what they should want for themselves, but to enter anywhere other than the 3rd Division risks Rangers Football Club being burdened with the legacy of commencing its rebuilding in a manner that they later look back on with regret. Rangers Football Club does not need to be handed a competitive advantage, they are more than capable of returning to the SPL via the 3rd Division on their own merit. Rebuilding from the bottom can restore the dignity stripped from the club by its former owners. Â The papers use emotive language to threaten a future of financial meltdown and they carry the implication of the destruction of the game should a Newco not be entered in the 1st Division. If things are as bad as indicated then Scottish Football is in a far worse state than is being acknowledged. In which case it is time to accept the bankrupt model needs fixed and not supported and perpetuated on the back of this proposal. The fact that other clubs might face similar financial distress because Rangers Football Club enter the 3rd Division is hardly a reason to compromise the integrity of the SFL and further compromise Rangers Football Club. Â Rather than attempting to prepare a soft landing before delivering sanctions, it would be better to contemplate more radical change that might actually underpin financial stability in the long term for clubs that balance their books. Perhaps an amnesty from sanctions for clubs that are forced to face insolvency procedures in the next 2 years as a result of the current turmoil, and an automatic entry to the 3rd Division for any club liquidated and reformed in similar circumstances. This would allow 2 years to properly restructure the Scottish Game for the benefit of all and undo the damage that has been created by the current structure which encourages club directors to trade integrity for cash, and then spend beyond their means, willingly risking the very existence of football clubs. If we could believe that the game could be less self interested long enough to resolve this, then this, and other far better ideas, might be worth contemplating. Â SPL clubs that have openly stated their opposition to a Newco being given immediate access to the SPL have taken the position based on their, and at times, their supporters' view of what is the right thing to do, however, the vote has still to be taken and proposals such as these are premature. If the SPL clubs vote as indicated on the basis of the increasingly discredited notion of sporting integrity, it would be questionable if the SFL clubs did otherwise. Â The reality is that we are faced with unique circumstances and it would be foolish to pretend otherwise, that probably means that compromise for some is inevitable, and perhaps even worthwhile for everyone in the long term. The solution however is not this hastily cobbled together proposal. Â The Board of this club sees no merit whatsoever in adopting this proposal. Allan Heron
Excellent statement from Clyde. Â Each successive club that comes out with a statement refuting this proposal just makes our board look shabbier and shabbier.

Trotter
Hum-dinger! Â Well done to Clyde. Â Makes Beattie & co look a bit silly to be honest which in turn reflects badly & embarrasses PTFC. Â Time is ticking Mr Beattie, do a George Osbourne & hit that reverse gear or have the death of PTFC on your head.
GrantB
Oh dear. Now even the Gypos are putting our BoD to shame. Â That is an excellent statement, maximum respect to Clyde for that effort.
RodMcDonaldJag
Excellent response and one I would love to see mirrored by our board.
Muscat Jag
Well done Clyde; statement sums up the situation perfectly. In stark contrast to the succession of pointless messages emanating from Firhill. Feel even more ashamed of my club now!!!

Pie Of The Month
The lack of a definitive no vote from the BoD is becoming an embarrassment when Clyde can put out a statement like that.
yoda-jag
Echo all the above statements, huge respect to Clyde (never thought i'd ever say that!), the gypos have gone up in my estimation. Â If our board had issued this statement, and it came to pass that there was no newco in our league in 5 weeks time, then season ticket sales would have highest in over a decade. Â Another example of how our Board and those who speak for them, just don't understand or get Thistle supporters, or 95% of other clubs supporters countrywide. Â ACT NOW BEATTIE AND CO. lady-isobel-barnett
Excellent response from Clyde. Â Just to add to our embarrassment Beattie's latest communique has made its way on to the STV website.
jagsfan1963
An excellent thought out response that sums up all that is wrong with this proposal. Take note DB and get in line otherwise we will become a laughing stock!
yoda-jag
Another email sent to Beattie   Over one week on, facebook, wearethistle, pieandbovril, other clubs forums, and other social media platforms going into meltdown, as are radio phoneins, pubs and workplaces across the land, supporters 95% across the country united, and all we get from Thistle is http://www.ptfc.co.u...rd_of_directors (and thats after the embarrassment of quotes in the press attributed to you, which appear to show you and by association (or possibly is the club boards collective view) PTFC are for Newco/Sevco in same league as PTFC in a few weeks time).  While over at Morton, Raith, Falkirk, Hamilton, Peterhead, Dunfermline and an increasing number of other SFL clubs, the message is clear - NO BRIBERY, NO TO NEWCO/SEVCO PARACHUTE, NO TO IGNORING/RIPPING UP/REWRITING THE RULES FOR ONE (TOXIC CHEATING UNAPOLOGETIC) CLUB, and now Clyde come out with http://www.clydefc.c...012/06/30/4134/  There is only one thing to do, and do NOW Mr Beattie - come out this weekend and before the SFL meeting and say that the PTFC board have listened to the clubs support and looked at the detailed proposal and its a bag of shite, blackmail and lies (or use more PC words if you wish) and PTFC will be voting against it, and issue a statement similar to that of Clyde.  Otherwise, you may see attendances halved at Firhill this coming season, and even more so in seasons after that.  Respect and Reflect the views of the clubs support if you are going to speak and vote on our behalf. The supporters of PTFC are the club - the lifeblood - the paying customers - the majority of the clubs income. Without the supporters, the club will die, no matter if you take 30 pieces of silver or 300.  Reorganisation of our leagues is required, of that there is no doubt, it has been required for over a decade, bigger leagues, equitable share of TV monies, a fairer distribution of other pots amongst clubs, BUT NOT where it is solely to ensure one club (who has systematically cheated and diregarded the rules all clubs are governed by and shown a complete disregard for sporting integrity and every paying customer of Scottish Football past and present).  No to Newco/Sevco in SFL1, apply the rules without fear or favour, if all clubs unite, change across the board of Scottish Football can be achieved (including League reorganisation, governing bodies restructured all under one umberella), you can get all you want and more if clubs stick together (and are acting on the united and overwhelming voices of their supports).  Listen to the clubs supporters Mr Beattie, i implore you, before I, and 100's if not 1000's of others like me walk away from Partick Thistle (and scottish football for ever) in disgust and with heavy saddened hearts.  Or is this all just a cunning ploy to ensure you can implement Propco sooner rather than later? Blackpool Jags
Just to say I'm in absolute agreement with all of the above. Â Come on Mr Beattie, can you really not see how bad you're making us look at this time?

Auld Jag
I dont think that this has been mentioned anywhere else, but i do not think that any rule has been brung in if another club goes bust and becomes a newco.Surely this has to change so that this endless debate does not happen again and just in case anybody from our board is reading this i think that any newco at best should start in div3 at best. This is not the only reason but remember the double vote to kick us out the SPL..
