ian_mac
This one will attract a good number of lapsed Morton fans as well due to its importance and locality, though. 2000 is optimistic, but I can see them bringing 1500 through, and we'll do well to be prepared just in case. Exactly. Also worth remembering that a lot of folk down that way have moved up to Glasgow now, so the games at Firhill are sometimes easier for them than Cappielow. lewcal
If the weather doesnt get any better it may well have a big say on the attendance also.(thats if the game goes ahead).Forget xmas....the morton game is all i can think about!! I think 3pts on wednesday would be a massive step towards the title.
Guest fredthecheesecloth
I presume we will have 2 crowds for this game - one counting normal fans and another counting nomads.
partickthedog
I presume we will have 2 crowds for this game - one counting normal fans and another counting nomads. But how can the crowd counting staff determine who is or is not a nomad, unless they come by camel?
Norgethistle
But how can the crowd counting staff determine who is or is not a nomad, unless they come by camel? Lenziejag2
OK, so today's result was not what we had all hoped for! But, we are still top of the league with a game in hand! For the game v. Morton we pulled in a crowd of 4955. At EEP Dunfie v Falkirk attracted 5746, whilst for Accies v Airdrie it was 1179. The Firhill and EEP figures invite comparison with ICT v St M - 3506; M'well v Abdn - 5093; and Killie v Hearts - 5163. Would be interested to hear the views of forum members. Lindau
45 short of 5000. Must admit thought it was a bigger crowd today than the Dunfermline game. Cracking atmosphere today again
distel
Healthy crowd today pity the players didn't put on a show. Still think our fans need to be a bit more vocal. The Jackie Husband stand needs to get behind the team as well! Hope the fans keep coming back because we have some work to do if are to stay top. buchanio
the problem with having a big home crowd is the players need to keep the tempo high to maintain the atmosphere in the stadium. Great first half but I think we dropped a gear in the second half and couldn't pick up again and it spurred on Morton. that and a number of dodgy decisions never helped. .! David Stevenson
But in recent years, our season has been over before Christmas. We're top and playing in a top of the league clash. The potential for a massive crowd is there. True, and it was a really good crowd, but less than the Dunfermline game. Hopefully he didn't bet on it! Stewarty
But how can the crowd counting staff determine who is or is not a nomad, unless they come by camel? Anyone not exhibiting the symptoms of a vitamin D deficiency is presumed to be a nomad.
Lenziejag2
All but one of the AUFC home SFL1 attendances are given on their website. It seems that their home SFL1 attendances are averaging 959, so a bit under 1000 per game. Anyone care to hazard a guess at today's attendance? Mindful of the rain, end-of-year-itis, etc. can we get the attendance up over the 1229 they had for the game against Dunfie?

jagfox
I'd go for around 1500. A 50/50 split of home and away fans. Pars brought 400, we'll bring more than that. Car load of five back on the promotion trail to Craigneuk. Section B wank wank wank
Fawlty Towers
What will interest me is the crowd for the Hamilton match on the 2nd. We had nearly 3,500 Jags fans against Morton but with some people going back to work on the 2nd (not me thankfully) that will have an impact. We need to keep attendances up to give Jackie the funds to do what he feels needs to be done with the squad, I will go for 2,946 on Wednesday. An increasing number don't get the 2nd off now - I'll be working so can't make the game - otherwise I'd be there.
jagfox
Well we gave Airdrie a late Xmas present of their biggest crowd of the season. The vast majority being Thistle fans, even if they were quieter than church dormice in general. Getting pissed off with our road form. That was the worst performance by the team, possibly this calendar year? Did something bad happen in Liverpool or are the vultures circling for a couple of our players? Not good enough today. Must improve quickly.
Lenziejag2
Must be pretty unusual for the Jags to contribute the vast majority of the attendance and yet still play before the smallest SFL1 crowd of the day! Airdrie v PTFC - 1617; Morton v Dunfie - 3076; Falkirk v Dumbie - 3097; Raith v Cowden - 1877. Any thoughts?
Lenziejag
Airdrie have a rubbish support; Falkirk were on a 5 game winning run; Raith/Cowdenbeath was a local derby
Lenziejag2
I suppose I should have added - by way of comparison - that Tractor Boys v Caley only had a crowd of 2975. Frankly, that is totally inexcusable - it's a straight run down and up the A9 - so where was the "Premier" crowd?
jagfox
Funny how midtable Falkirk had a bigger crowd than the MotD at Crappielow

Charlie Endell
It's 2 hours on a train to Perth from Inverness. Who are you to say which crowd is acceptable or inexcusable? & the A9 between Perth and Inverness is the most stressful road in Scotland to drive on - II refuse to do it ever again. Rid Skwerr
& the A9 between Perth and Inverness is the most stressful road in Scotland to drive on - I beg to differ - the A9 is a dawdle compared to Maryhill Road at 2:00 on a Saturday!:-)
lady-isobel-barnett
Funny how midtable Falkirk had a bigger crowd than the MotD at Crappielow Can't blame any fan for not going to that dump. I'm sure a lot of us only went this season because we were assured we wouldn't be jammed in the DVT stand and knew it was unlikely to piss down that afternoon.
