Dick Dastardly
You've never heard of a player being able to play in more than one position? My Dear Lady, I'm sure that you have many such artisans in your household, however could they not also be referred to as "Jack of all trades, master of none" ? lady-isobel-barnett
however could they not also be referred to as "Jack of all trades, master of none" ? They most certainly could. At our level tho' I wouldn't be calling the likes of Barton, Elliott & Lawless that simply because they can play more than one position.
allyo
I just think we need a big lump, who knows how to score goals. Archie's done pretty well in meeting the first of these criteria, with previous strikers.

Or perhaps Tom Finney as not very good because he played left wing, right wing and centre forward? Or John Charles, centre back/centre forward? Or George Best - wing or midfield but of whom it was said he could play anywhere in a team?
Mad Mull Jag
Yesterday Ross county signed billy McKay on a free from Wigan. Would have definitely taken him. proven goalscorer and would definitely take him over storey. Any more news on him? Don't think we can go into this season with our second striker as nisbet? An underwhelming 4 league goals I think in his last two season with ICT and Dundee United. A no from me. I fancy Storey- if Aberdeen get Moult (which seems likely) he will about 6th choice maybe a wee loan to xmas to suss him out. Still need a CB and a proper RB. Vinnyjag
Disagree we need a proper RB, Elliott has played well there up to now, I wouldn't want to waste money on a stop gap RB when we already have one.
Pinhead
we need a RB at least on loan in case Elliot gets injured - we have no backup
jags on tour
did Edwards play at rwb or lwb vs St J? Welshy was wing back that day aswell i think
Pinhead
did Edwards play at rwb or lwb vs St J? Welshy was wing back that day aswell i think That was only one game though, wouldn't go with Edwards for more than an emergency. just like I probably would not use Penrice as a long term central defender either. And what the hell has happened to Welsh, I am surprised he ain't been signed up by someone yet.

Welshy was wing back that day aswell i think If you're meaning Welsh's last game then I think Amoo played wide right and Welsh wide left in a 3-4-3. So no full backs or I suppose wingbacks either?. lithgaejag
Not related but according to the sun (yes, I know) Adam Barton said we are already good enough for top 6. Saying that we have most of the same team as last year and they know what it takes to get top

Dick Dastardly
I wonder what he is supposed to say. He can't exactly speak to the press and say we're doomed to relegation.
Wayfarer
Archie has offered training facilities to released players before so wouldn't read anything into Welsh training with us
Yellow & Redneck
Apparently Scott McDonald turned down both ourselves and St. Johnstone to sign for Dundee Utd. St. Johnstone now going after Conor Sammon, which seems to leave us back at square one yet again, although I think Sammon is a total diddy. marco77
Lee Erwin has negotiated his release from Leeds. Considering offers in Scotland & England. Would like to think we are one of the teams interested probably along with the usual suspects

partickthedog
Agree. Sammon Is a pure Diddy. is he? I cannot claim to be an expert, but he seems to have scored a good few goals at our level, admittedly most during his first spell with Kilmarnock, and was by no means a failure in his career down south. Absolutely agree that he would not be the most exciting signing and I could imagine him being a not hugely prolific 8 goal a season striker, but even that is better than Azeez/Pogba etc. Provides height for corners, both offensive and defensive, and could be a target man as well as scoring now and again, and setting up others. Seems to have a positive attitude. We could do worse. Might be a reasonable catch. No, I am not his agent. Rid Skwerr
Kilmarnock supporting pals say Sammon was only any good when they had the boy Erimenko (sp?)in the side. He would give Sammon the ball in a "cannae miss" position to score. If Erimenko didn't play Sammon was useless.
robphil
I thought the pre-season message was that the accent would be on 'quality' signings?
