lady-isobel-barnett
Talking of ex players I've just seen the video of Neil McLaughlan's hattrick for Caledonian Braves. Absolutely stunning. Not sure if this link will work. https://twitter.com/i/status/1311918704209408002

Pinhead
Football is odd at times. McLaughlin was the better of the two players (him and Nisbet) but Nisbet who was a lazy thought he had made it as a player but to his credit dropped down the leagues and stepped up his game where McLaughlin went to Stirling and never set the heather alight and is now in the lowland league and maybe on that hat trick and his chunk i will be generous could be a league 2 player. Nisbet to his credit became the player Thistle thought he could be, but it took us telling him to bolt for him to be who he is today. Don't look back in anger at us letting him go because it has made him who he is today.

Neil even had the opportunity to train and play alongside Peter MacDonald, who I believe is a respected striker coach and also a kinda similar type of striker in stature to McLaughlin. The lad's still quite young (22 next month) so he's maybe got an outside chance of playing full time football in the future. That's if there is enough full time football in the future. My one concern though is how Raith Rovers and Dunfermline managed to persuaded Nisbet to change his approach to football and we couldn't! Trick question - How many of these clubs were keen to end last season on Black Friday?

jaggy
Not sure if this is true, but I just got told that Glass has done his ACL and is out for the season. We're apparently after Blair Spittal as his replacement. If true I assume loans are allowed outwith the transfer window?

Sure his performances were poor in some games but don’t think he ever hid too much. Great signing at this level and sure he will chip in with a fair few goals.
Sizzle
Yeah I agree. Def talented player and scored some good individual goals for us but seemed to drift out of games we really needed to win. Perhaps too much dependence placed on him. Should make a diff
lady-isobel-barnett
Shame for the lad, Glass. Especially at this time in his career. Never understood the "marmite" thingy re fans opinion about Spittal. Like loads of wingers (or wide-ish type players) he ran hot and cold. Most likely won't be the most consistent of players even at third tier level but a decent addition (replacement) all the same. Blair at least will be useful for free kicks. laukat
The problem I had with Spittal wasn't so much him blowing hot and cold during games as most players will do that at our level. He was never great at doing anything doing his defensive duties and wasn't keen on going in for a challenge both of which are fairly essential for anyone wanting to play in midfield. He orginally came in as a recognised specialist when it came to deadball situations and in his early days his threat from free-kicks and delivery from corner kicks offset his defensive weakness. My main problem was that in his final few months he stopped wanting to take responsibility for free-kicks and corners which gave the impression of someone in general who wanted to dissapear when the going got tough. It was noticeable towards the end of season 18/19 that we looked a more competitive and better defensive unit when he was on the bench. The away game at Ayr mid-week we won 1-0 and we looked a stuffy team with him on the bench. Fast forward to the weekend we play the same Ayr team at home Spittal starts and to my mind Ayr exploited his defensive lapses to get their first in a 2-1 loss. That been said he should be a stand out at this level and he's probably also the type of player that look good in a team thats used to winning but not the character you need for a relegation battle. Hopefully this season we'll be nearer the top of the league and winning more than we lose so perhaps this time around it will more suit him.

He contributed far more than many of the others, despite being one of the younger players. Given he Deservedly won player of the year I don’t recall much hiding from him at all in his last season
elevenone
Lewis Mansell signs for Accrington Stanley in Englands League 1. Reece Cole still without a club as is Alex Jones. And for anyone interested in the fortunes of Jack Storer he has had a few different clubs in recent months where he has still being seeing the red cards.
