Jaggernaut
4 hours ago, lady-isobel-barnett said: A side note. Allowing Milne at Aberdeen to have a vote, when his club was set to gain a very substantial sum from ground sharing, was a disgrace. I'm more indifferent to ICT than enjoying their demise. Besides good people, some not even connected to the club, will suffer. My biggest gripe is back twenty odd years ago there was an opportunity to change the league structure and hee haw happened. Ten years later with the then Rangers losing their vote there was an even greater opportunity to change things. Wind forward to five year ago and covid when there was a moral duty to increase the leagues (even if only temporarily). Again zilch happens. I guess my gripe is more with the SPL/SPFL/SFA than any particular club. But of course the clubs or more correctly the owners of the clubs play a big part in allowing these jokers to continually mismanage football. That basically summarizes everything nicely. Selfishness trumps all.

lady-isobel-barnett
Just now, Jag said: Couldn't ever see the appointment of Ferguson working. Allegedly his salary was ridiculous as well. Almost on a par with "No way, Mr Epstein, beat groups are on their way out" is "Thanks all the same, Mr Ancelotti, the assistant job at Real is tempting, but I'd rather stay on and manage Everton"
Auld Jag
I understand and share the feelings against ICT when the rules were changed to allow them to get promotion, but they did vote against our covid demotion.

They knew the rules in place at the start of that season and only started bleating about the unfairness when it was looking like they’d be challenging for promotion. Indifference to them is also my overall feeling though. They did keep Clyde down that other time.
mulguy jag
Am i right in saying the ICT promotion fiasco at the time involved two separate votes with thistles victory in the first been overturned in the second vote by the clubs involved due to some underhand involvement. If that was the case, why was a second vote allowed.

Yep - if I remember right, Dundee was one of the clubs that claimed they didn’t understand the rules of the first vote, whilst Aberdeen stood to gain £600k in rent

I think both Dundee & Dundee Utd voted in our favour but always worth mentioning that Motherwell voted against us despite being saved from relegation the previous season because Falkirk didn't meet the 10,000 stadium requirement. Inverness surely earned quite a bit of money from reaching the Cup Final in 2023...their Board must have made a horrendous mess in their financial management elsewhere. Kapiti Jag
Just to further the general conspiracy theories I seem to recall that Aberdeen were looking for 600K to poach Jimmy Calderwood from Dunfermline, and also that Stewart Milne, chairman of Aberdeen, had some interest in Tynecastle and Hearts were in some financial bother at the time... 'Flats, flats, glorious flats'... Strange that Hearts were pushing for the second vote.
Garscube Road End 2
No. We shouldn't laugh. The loss of a football club is a massive blow to fans and a community, no matter how small. Just remember the situations we have been in. Particularly 'Save The Jags". I wouldn't wish that on any football club, excepting, of course, the scumbags that reside in Glasgow, for obvious reasons.
laukat
I don't wish in any ill will to ICT as others have pointed out it was the SPL that changed the rules to suit their own agendas. However with the Sevco precedent of liquidation meaning start again in league why wouldn't ICT just proceed to liquidation? With the point penalty for administration there is a fair old chance they will be in league 2 next season anyway so why not get rid of all the debt as per Sevco and go into league 2 with a chance of THE ICT winning it? That is the rules, isn't it?

Not sure if this applies to an administration event too.

I had a read and it looks to similar to what happened with Sevco in that the clubs can meet and approve transfer of the share from old too new club or they can reject that in which case there are no longer a league club. Given most clubs voted to allow the transfer for Sevco surely they wouldn't treat ICT differently...
Third Lanark
I see they have released Adam Brooks - he is highly rated. Celtic offered him a new deal which he rejected as he didn’t think enough youth players got game time there and Caley fans rats him highly. At a time when they have had points deducted and are at the bottom of the league can’t be an easy choice to have released their best player

jaggy
I feel sorry for the fans but not the club. They’ve obviously been spending well above their means for years so this was bound to happen eventually. They were in big trouble a couple years ago but the QP cup reprieve that helped them get to the final must have helped delay this until now.
