lady-isobel-barnett
Given it's obvious he has to be upbeat and just as obvious he can't be too informative. So I wonder just what Doolan is supposed to say in a pre match interview? There may be a case for having no interview at all but I'd bet there'd be as many grumbling if that happened. Anyone that's listened to Doolan on the radio, TV or in person should be aware how articulate the man is. Certainly more articulate than myself and most Jags fans I know. There's no doubt the way the team has been playing, coupled with the relatively poor return of results, that Doolan is open to valid criticism. I don't think that the way he conducts himself in pre match interviews, where he can't (shouldn't) really include much substance, is worthy of criticism.
jagfox
You should watch the Calum Davidson interview for context. His miserable disposition may be more in touch with some Maryhill Magyars 😉 What I took from Doolan's update is below. We have the same players available. No worries about Ashcroft. Good to hear the likes of Ablade, Lawless and Mitchell are stepping up their re-hab work. It must be good for their mental state bring back among the collective. Casper living up to his name and misses out again. Davidson interview alluded to Queen's waiting on a few players coming back and he has had to change his line-up 3 or 4 times over the last few days. He comes across quite well to be fair but struggles to get upbeat. Hopefully hes miserable come 4.50 PM this afternoon. In general some managers have always liked the opportunity to speak their mind. We still remember quotes from Lambie and older fans will have a few gems from Bertie Auld no doubt. The media has changed but fans will always expect communications from the gaffer. It would be good to have the full interviews open to all but unless the club can monetize it through YouTube or X at lot remains behind the subscription gate. It would be nice to listen to Kris's next chat reflecting on a Thistle win, as for me that's the bottom-line.
Lenziejag
All we want to know from the game preview is who is available and who isn’t. We don’t need to know how training has been. We know confidence will be up after a win. It could take 30 seconds.

Fawlty Towers
An excellent away win against a team who were in very good form. I expect this thread to have fewer posts than many others with some notable absentees. Remember to put your clocks back tonight!
Auld Jag
Away win, clean sheet and 2nd win a row. I will take that. Well done to the management, team and Thistle supporters who were there.

Grubber8468
Good win but pretty poor performance! Crawford brought a lot of energy when he came on… fitz had another poor game and not sure if he is injured or not! Diack must do more when he comes on…. No excuses for not giving it everything when you’re only on for 10 mins!
jagfox
Unbelievable Jeff! What were the thoughts on his effort in the second-half? It would be nice if the malcontents could specify what was bad about the performance too 😉 We haven't beaten Queen's Park on the league at Hampden since they came backup. All about the win today, for me. Broke the away day hoodoo and back to back wins for the first time this season. I'll enjoy my night anyway.
dl1971
Awful second half in particular, but an away win at last. We look solid at back, but lack of creativity remains a problem.

We lack creativity and struggle to score and we are a bit boring to watch tbh. We have played 11 league games and scored 10 goals, at any level of football that’s not going to get you promoted, btw you can enjoy the win, enjoy your night while recognising the areas we need to improve…..I’m pretty sure that’s what the manager is doing. Fair enough. Some games you need to win the battles and I took that as a positive in regards to performance. We were robbed by the linesman I feel in the second-half when Graham headed home. It's not all about shots on goal as the opposition setup to deny us on that front. Queen's put a lot into the game as did way. Like me I would doubt either manager was unhappy with the 'performance' they put in today. Onwards and upwards. I'm almost confident we can get a third win in a row at Dunfermline next week. I must be high on the smell of victory 😆

Winter of '63
A hard-fought and important victory but again we made hard work of it...and with a less capable keeper than Myles Roberts we might have left Hampden without any points. The size of Hampden drains the atmosphere but it does give you a wide-angle view of the play...not sure why the Thistle Support was housed towards the corner but i had a better sight of the offside line than the linesman and I was surprised when Graham's effort was disallowed. Other positives were Banzo at least for the first hour and the switch to bring McBeth on...Doolan had clearly identified a problem and we defended better after the change. A terrific toys-out-the pram hissy fit from Robinson when he was subbed. It's good we are grinding out points and I'm just hoping that we will at some stage spark into a free-flowing entertaining side but still a thought that this could be a season that just passes us by.
lady-isobel-barnett
Aye, it wasn't pretty, and true, our goalie done the biz, but a welcome three points all the same. Every successful team will have a few win uglies during a season, so we should be happy tonight. Still a lot of work to be done in getting the ball forward thru midfield and that's largely the reason for the deep defending. And we did defend well. Btw Graham's goal looked onside to me. belfastjag
Bits of that were like watching paint dry. Plenty of room for improvement, but a win's a win. Some real battling performances, and a great goalkeeping exhibition.

Over weight and rarely kept up with the game. I'm sure he was metres behind play when Graham 'scored'.
Lambies Lost Doo
I was there and Queens playing at Hampden is just a dreadful experience.  They had so much opportunity for Lesser Hanpden and seemed to have blown the cash and potential. Our keeper is very good. Our defence is solid. But we struggle up front and I have no idea what the specific problem is and how to fix.  We need to play higher up the pitch and support Graham more as even with Robinson there is a big gap between up front and midfield. We need Lawless back so much. And then we started to play deeper and deeper and thankfully left with a win.  I think Harry Milne was our MOTM. He's a Premiership player next season. Duke Gekantawa
We’re not pretty, but I thought that was a lot better myself. We scored one, looked like we might have had another good goal chalked off and created a few other decent chances. They never looked liked scoring except for a 15 minute or so spell at the beginning of the second half when we were awful. Doolan responded by bringing on McBeth for Robinson (who had a childish tantrum). Immediately after this we were much better and looked the most likely to score (and probably did, other for a dodgy lino).
Jimmy McD
Yet again we are put through the wringer , we scored after 15 minutes and then nothing, same as last week...Then for the first 15 minutes of the second half we were never out of our own half, sill a wins a win, on to East End Park next week, can we make it 3 wins in a row????? laukat
I thought first half we looked a lot better. Roberts who had some excellent saves was moving the ball out to the centrebacks a bit quicker and we had some decent periods of possession. Second half we were poor and had resorted to lumping it long again until Crawford came on and then for 10-15 minutes we looked like we would get a second (I also thought Graham was onside) Once Diack came on we just couldn't get out. Diack needs a real shake. He's meant to come on for the last 10 minutes and be bursting with energy instead he just lumbered about. Thought Robinson was doing ok and don't understand why he got subbed and not Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick had a terrible game and backed out of most physical contact. A few decent performances but I thought Ashcroft looked very good and his tackle on Rudden first half after Megwa and O'Reilly got in a fankle was as good as a goal. exiledjag
I wasn't at today's game and it will be a while before I will be able to see the Jags in action. I was going to ask about the goal that was chalked off but this has been answered above. The league table is looking better tonight (no real difference at the top as 4 of the 5 top teams won, QP being the exception) as there is a little bit of a gap opening up between the bottom 3 and the top 5 with Morton and Hamilton caught in between. I'm a bit surprised the bottom 3 are Airdrie, Dunfermline and Raith. Queens game in hand is away to Morton who can be stuffy at Cappilow. I fancy either a Morton win or a draw - can't see Queens winning this one. It's good to see us back in the top 4 and that Ayr and Livingston are within touching distance .... but we do need to keep winning continuing with next week at Dunfermline!
