scotty 377 Report post Posted April 1 Are we actually playing this game? Thursday afternoon and not a mention of it on the Thistle web-site. It's not even on the fixture list. I'm can feel myself gradually losing all interest in things red and yellow!
Muscat Jag 181 Report post Posted April 1 Not really fussed about this one. Would have been useful for giving a few players some game time. But we've already done that at the expense of 2 points. 1
Dick Dastardly 826 Report post Posted April 1 I’ll get interested when we’re 1-0 up with 5 mins to go. Not buzzin and no cargo for this one

Auld Jag 1,979 Report post Posted April 1 The main and possibly only objective for this season should be promotion to the championship. I never want Thistle to lose any game, particularly a competitive game, but unlike a 100 years ago Thistle will not win the Scottish cup this season. So we should use this game to get some players fitness up. From Tuesday every league game we play should be treated like a cup final.
BowenBoys 1,798 Report post Posted April 1 (edited) We could have been going into this on the back of three straight victories, closing in on Falkirk and full of confidence. A chance for fringe players to try to break into the successful league team. Instead, heads will be down and the need to ensure we finish fourth in League One will be foremost in everyone’s mind. Playing a team two leagues above us, we will be looking to restore our fragile confidence. I’m still so bloody angry about Saturday’s Tuesday's debacle. elevenone 461 Report post Posted April 1 Some info now up. https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/scottish-cup-stream-from-tannadice/ Would we get a cut of gate/stream receipts as it’s a cup game?

Jimmy McD 116 Report post Posted April 1 I would not be surprised if we go up there on Saturday and get a result. Thistle being Thistle..and before any one asks I am sober and not on any drugs..

Tuesday night on the other hand was a debacle and we only managed 1 point. With East Fife currently winning, we are now 4th on goal difference only. No more debacles acceptable. Anniesland Jag 80 Report post Posted April 2 IMHO this should be viewed as one of these games where McCall could legitimately make wholesale changes to squad half way though a match in order to give more players real playing time without worrying about the result as our focus should be 100% getting out of this bear pit of a league .
Norgethistle 1,393 Report post Posted April 2 Probably the 1st time ever I’ve no excitement for this competition, due to the predicament we’re in, no fans in grounds and run of games we have, usually at least it’s a welcome distraction sometimes it’s a shot at glory. This year though just seems unnecessary
partickthedog 1,045 Report post Posted April 2 The timing does not help us either. Usually at this stage, facing a middle-ranking Premier League team, our opponents would be prioritising the League, trying to squeeze into the top 6 or to pull away from the relegation zone, and with as many if not more midweek fixtures to face as we would have. In this case, Dundee Utd have just failed to make Top 6, but have a comfortable cushion against relegation. Their players have a spaced out fixture list and are well rested. The Cup can be their main focus, so no prospect of their taking the eye off the ball or fielding a weakened team or whatever. If we do win, it will be an incredible achievement! One of the few grounds for hope is our good record in penalty shoot outs this season.
