We can look forward to  playing Livingston next season. Afraid I can't see us getting past both Airdrie and Raith Rovers. If we, by some miracle manage to do so, the legs will go in the second game against St Johnstone!

Let's hope you are proven wrong. Karma owes us one.

Poor fare. I don't know how many times we tried to play a Hollywood pass, 50-60 yards, only for their defence to clear it or our player to mis-control. It clearly wasn't working.

On the plus side, Ngwenya looked very decent and Robinson was great again. Neilson and Fitzpatrick were off it.

Typical end of seaon fayre- virtual dead rubber for us, and it showed. First half we made a few changes and missed a couple of sitters. Second half we settled for the draw and started experimenting in defence. One goal conceded in 6 is very useful, and an amazing turnaround from where we were a few weeks ago

Maybe it was simply looking to get the job done, but there were some very tired players out there (Fitzy again struggling after 70 mins or so). The prospect of two games a week in the playoffs will be a very tough one with a good few players out already.
Because of this I’m doubtful of our chances of reaching the final but the way we’ve been defending recently (one conceded from open play in 7 games) we might just be able to sneak it. Regardless it’s been a success to finish third, and Doolan’s pre match interview suggests the club/board pitched a financial plan below that target.

I had hoped that last week was a sign of us hitting form but today was a return to most of the home games this season where we have been ok but not markedly better than the opposition. A draw was a fair result and the second half was dull with hardly a decent attack from us.

Just biding time until the play-offs.

Very end of season dead rubber feel to that. Midfield had no control and gave them lots of free yards. I've yet to see Neilson play well there - his distribution was better when he played at centre-half. The stats don't lie though - the current defensive arrangement is working very well.

A draw a fair result, both teams had chances and failed to take them, couldn't tell if Graham was offside when he put the ball in the net seconds before half time. Neilson was very poor. Thought the ref was ok.

A point that all but sees us 3rd and another clean sheet.

In summary:

The game started at 1500.

The game finished at 1648.

In the intervening period, bugger all continued to happen. This was fully reflected by the absence of a man of the match announcement.

Man of the match for me? The referee, who kept the game flowing using the advantage rule where possible (even if not always correctly) and used his cards only when he had no other choice late in the game.

Luke McBeth was man of the match..saw him getting the award in hospitality.

Thought the referee was very good, kept the game flowing even if he played the advantage once too often, but head and shoulders above the usual standard.
What was the refs name?
McBeth deservedly MoTM, a good signing.

Agree with most of what's been said

The positives - another clean sheet. Cut them open a few times and Graham and Robinson both missed sitters. I haven't managed along to many games this year, was my first look at McBeth apart from a sub appearance at Cappielow months ago, like of the look of him. First I've seen O'Reily too and I thought he looked decent in his cameo.

Negatives - yeh just overall, end of season waste of time feel to it. Thought Neilson struggled in midfield - too upright & stiff a runner for a midfield, too slow on the turn, be hard to change the shape/personell after so many clean sheets but can't help thinking McBeth in the middle instead of him and O'Reilly next to Aero would be better? But with so many clean sheets, maybe changing it would be stupid. Yeh an off day for Fitzy, but u have to give him then, cos you know when the lights are on in the play offs, he'll produce moments. I've been going to Thistle since 1992, i cant think of a more two footed player we've had in that time than Fitzy.

Agree about the ref - thougth he was excellent, game flowed, wasn't too whistle happy. Was a really easy game to ref to be fair, but he's best ref I've seen in a long time.

Ref was Matthew McDermid - the most recent appointment to the FIFA list in January.  It is his 4th Thistle game this season having done the previous 3 against Dundee United.  He is easily the best we have had this season and very consistent as to what is a foul.  I think he has a real chance of going to the very top
