Squad For 24/25 Season (And Signing Rumours)

Recommended Posts

Looks like the loan window is closed and we still have everyone at Firhill. I'm not sure that's a great thing for the development of Mackenzie and Lyon or in trying to keep a large squad happy.

In general there appears to be a lack of activity for loans and more players available as free agents that could do a job. Which makes me wonder if something has changed across Scottish Football that is causing the change in behaviour?

I know little re loans. Does that mean the window's shut for short term loans as well?

Like others I feel we have rather too large a squad. Even with injuries we have players not getting playing time. Others more on the periphery lucky to make the match day squad. Into the bargain, and not meant as a criticism, Doolan tends not to vary starting line ups. Competition for places is important but so is players getting game time.

Liam Smith anyone?  Hard to imagine he's still buzzin.

Wouldn’t be surprised, he’s now third choice right back and fifth choice centre back. He’s not going to get a game.

Probably in a minority, thought there was a player in there , with 2 ageing centres halves in Ashcroft and Aero surely we could have developed him to replace them

He was likely considered not good enough. Wasiri is a  Lovely guy who I think every single supporter wishes well

Crazy to give him a 2 year deal which I’ve always saidwhen he had no experience of Scottish football.  Likewise I think the same about given Sayers a 3 year deal too.

Not sure why Doolan has chucked such lengthy deals at these players with no experience of Scottish football- while it could work as shown with Wasiri there’s as much chance of it not working.

Surely would have been best to offer 1 year deal with option to extend if they adapt okay.

He was unlucky with injury and being played out of position but I thought he didn’t help himself when playing CB by trying to be too clever when just doing the simple thing might have seen him get an extended run. Nice guy and hope he finds success elsewhere

I too am scratching my head at a 3 year contract for a guy who will never get in ahead of Milne. Yes we need cover but 3 years seems excessive.

Perhaps there wasn’t an option. It could be that the agent was asking for 3 years or no deal. Based on timing, I suspect that he wasn’t the first choice, so maybe a few had turned down 1 year deals and it was 3 years or miss out again.

Unfortunately for us , I doubt Harry Milne will be with us for the long term.

In terms of centre halves I would play Wasiri ahead of Lee Ashcroft every day of the week

Williams was quicker , liked a tackle and could also play out from the back .

We all see things differently
