A very late thread.  Team for me.

Roberts

Megwa Ashcroft O'Reilly Sayers

Bannigan Turner

Charmers Robinson Lawless

Graham

Turner back into the middle and Fitzpatrick to have a rest.

I'm sure Scott Robinson and Wee Stevie are indeed charming.🙂

My guess is above team apart from Fitzpatrick starting instead of Lawless. Doesn't look like Stevie is ready to start. Plus thought Aiden was rather good v Airdrie. Playing a freer role and swapping wings on occasion with Chalmers.

Agree with this team and that is not to criticise Fitzpatrick. I think QP at home is much better than Morton away for Lawless to have his first start for a while. Fitzpatrick should be brought on earlier than the usual late subs to run at the QP defence and he can also do that from the start against Morton.

Chance to go 7 points behind Falkirk before they play again. Hopefully we take it. Same team as last week I will go for.

Watched the last 25 minutes of the Dunfermline v Falkirk game. Excellent entertainment and both sets of players put everything into it. Dunfermline were hanging on a bit but did well to keep coming back. Kieran Ngwenya put in a decent performance. Dunfermline goalkeeper looked very shakey. With Myles Roberts in goals they would have won. I was impressed by McGlynn throwing on 3 subs near the end to try and go for the win.

Last night I typed and posted  a detailed and brilliant analysis of the above suggested team selection. This morning it is nowhere to be found. So I include a brief summary below.

Basically I said no matter what team selection is offered our midfield with the absence of a ball winner (like for example Ross Docherty)always looks weak. My conclusion was why can't we play McBeth with instructions to win the ball and give it to Turner. I then asked the question " how hard can that be"?

Otherwise I agreed with the team selection.

This is a big week for us. Two wins takes us to 35 points and has been stated only 7 behind Falkirk. I expect Ayr and Livingston to win as well. If things go as I anticipate the top of the table will begin to look tighter and Queen's Park and Raith will be that bit further adrift. Then things rarly go as anticipated.

3-1 the Jags. I hope  Jags everywhere had a great Christmas and I wish all Jag fans and all at the club a great 2025

We won it because of a very decent free kick from Turner and great perseverance from Chalmers. O'Reilly or Chalmers my MOTM.

Fitzpatrick worked his socks off to track back a couple of times, not like the guy with the glasses who spewed hatred at him all game would've noticed.

Chalmers was awful first half. Pretty sure he was at fault for their goal? But yes he did create our second. Nb megwa is not a left back....

Happy with the 3 points but we are still not clicking and I have no idea what's the problem.  Last 10 mins was brutal.

Thought Sayers was alright so not sure why he was subbed.  Agree Megwa looked out of place on the wrong side.

Our midfield is not controlling the game and to often we break and then end up doubling back or stopping and putting our foot on the ball.  We don't lose possession but the opposition have managed to get back into defensive shape.

Well they say it’s a results business. Whatever it is, we do seem to see out matches regularly by sitting back and conceding possession. However ugly it is, it has now been working under Doolan for some time now. I can recall loads of games which have ended with us holding on like that under Doolan. However, I’m genuinely struggling to think of a time when we have conceded a consequential goal in the last few minutes (maybe the playoff final- and that against a Premier team). This surely can’t be chance. Compared to under Archie, when we conceded last minute goals every week, it’s to be commended
