Thought it was an improved performance.

O'Reilly and Milne were our best players, great fight from them both. Agree with the above that we looked more up for it but we're still a long way from where we need to be. I'd like to see Mackenzie get a run in central midfield over Stanway. Ben has had plenty chances to cement his place but he can be slow and ponderous with his distribution, I don't think he's our best option in there. I haven't seen anything in Crawford either that has changed my mind that it was a strange decision to bring him back.

If we can get our act together and get a run of wins, we can still get back in to the fight. Ayr are not a great team despite the start they have had. Dowds was poor and got lucky with his penalty, didn't see anything from him that made me wish we'd kept him.

Every team in this league will have a poor run of form, it happens ever year due to how similar the teams are. We can only hope we've got ours out the way at the start of the season! Falkirk etc will have sticky patches, still plenty to play for but it's up to Doolan and the players to get back in to it.

Cannot agree with your “rubbish” assessment for the whole team, though I do agree with your individual assessments of the players, apart from that I might have been a bit kinder to Stanway.

Not claiming it was a perfect or even a very good performance, but I found it encouraging, full of heart and spirit. However, I accept there is a long way to go and a lot of games to win before we can have any conversations about a realistic title challenge.

I completely agree with you on the increased effort on show but felt the football on show wasn't particularly inspiring. We still don't look like creating chances and resort to lumping it forward too often.

Never a penalty, and if re-taken because the keeper has stepped off his line, then 99% of all penalty saves should be re-taken.

It was retaken on the advice of an eagle eyed linesman. Up the other end a few minutes later even a myopic linesman would have witnessed an Ayr handball. Perhaps no coincidence but the former would I assume be the senior linesman with the latter his junior.

I know that sounds sour grapes. In fairness I gotta say that I thought a draw was about the right result. We played a new formation and looked like we were only picking up the gist of it as we went along. Ayr in contrast were comfortable with their shape. By and large the 3-5-2 did the business defensively and the later change of shape did so from an attacking point of view. On its own a draw away to title contenders is a good result. Perhaps the next time we play a 3-5-2 we'll be more polished?

Btw anyone else think it strange that McBeth (who doubles as a centre mid) was not centre of the back three with Muirhead (who can and did play right back) on his right?  Probably a good reason.

Pal at game saying Graham telling fans to shut the **** up.  v poor if true.  Sorry I can’t get excited with draw vs Ayr.  Feel we are clutching at any slight positively straws these days.  Hats off to the over 900 who madethe journey.

This happened in the first half. There was a long ball launched towards Graham, and he basically made no attempt to head the ball, or shield the ball from the defender, and just meekly allowed the defender to get to the ball instead. Cue the guy sitting next to me who shouted - quite correctly - "Make an effort, Graham!".

Graham then launched into a foul-mouthed outburst aimed at the area of the stand where we were sitting. Clearly stemming from frustration at his own poor form this season, but completely unjustified. Not befitting the captain of the club.

Sometimes you have to adapt to the conditions.

This was the case yesterday.

I agree we didn't create a lot but neither did Ayr.

What is it with Somerset that causes our own players to square go our own fans?😂 First Ricky Foster and now BBG!

It's an Ayr thing.

Square go if you want to be next to be served at the bar.

Especially at the Ayrshire and Galloway hotel.

Does the Railway Tavern, opposite the station, still exist?

Was a bit pissed off being locked in after the game. Plus locking exit doors in the stand imo is a safety issue. Not sure what was the point of the exercise but we were told it was ordered by the polis. When we were eventually released into the wild I had to negotiate my way thru a bunch of Ayrshire weans all dressed like some kind of Ninjas.

Hopefully this is just groups of youngsters copying what they see the fans of other clubs such as the old firm doing. It would be more sinister if there is some overarching organisation behind it.

Shocked to see this - they have buses in Ayr!

More seriously, not something we want to see from Thistle fans.

I will always say that the younger fans bring a fantastic positive atmosphere to our away games and it is great that they really enjoy following Thistle and are proud to show their allegiance.

I am sure that this particular march to the ground was all intended as innocent fun by a younger generation, but for those of us brought up with constant images from the worst of the Troubles in Northern Ireland on our news screens is does trigger some deep and unpleasant memories.

Hopefully there will be a bit of a re-think here.
