Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if a number of fans feel strongly that as long as we were in a play-off position Doolan should not have been sacked, and they might express their displeasure by deciding not to attend matches.

I think that would be a fairly small number.  The football's been gash and the players aren't giving 100% shall we say.

Really gutted it's come to this but it's the right decision.

Hopefully Kris knows he's still an absolute legend at this club and today's decision does nothing to diminish this

I'm personally not comfortable with Graham getting this even as an interim. He was the most senior player in the squad which got into this position and therefore is at least partly accountable.

Rhys McCabe would be my choice for all that matters.

Never good to see people lose their job and even sadder when its someone held in high regard. However it is the right decision.

We need a new approach and I don't think that can come from within. We also I think need someone a bit more ruthless so I would go for Lennon and perhaps Graham as his assistant?

Beyond that I would like to see who expresses an interest and see the club do a proper recruitment as we really need to build our ability on that front and not go for the lazy/cheap/convenient option.

We really need a reset back and focus an appointment about putting a winning team on the park rather than someone who tries to fulfil all the buzzwords such as good communicator, good at youth development, good with the fans or ticks some other PR box. For me, the next manager can be an absolute @rsehole as long as he gets us winning games

Gutted it never worked out for him, always a club hero!

Wheels have been off since December  and showed no signs of improving. Awful football on show all season, early cup exits and abysmal signings.

Few players let him down badly and wouldn’t be upset to see them out the door too.

Big decision now for the club but they don’t fill me with much confidence.

No more “Thistle Men” to take the job…a different direction and mentality needed!

I think, though, the difference is that if either Raith or Morton win their games in hand we might well not be 4th or 5th(unless they play each other).

Writing has been on the wall for a while. Even before Hamilton game. If Stanway hadn't scored that beezer Doolan might have gone sooner.

Extremely sad for all Jags fans who love Doolan to bits, including me. But football is a nasty business and it just didn't work out for him.

The players should hang their head in shame.

As for Brian Graham as manager? Not for me.

2 other slightly left field suggestions that might be worth a look

Callum Davidson - think he's done well at Queens Park given how poorly the club is ran and he always strikes me as being tactically quite good. I suspect he might welcome someone offering him an exit plan

Michael McIndoe - Edinburgh City were a financial basket case when he took over and looked destined for the lowland league. He's managed to make them competitive and play with a smile on their faces by using a fair amount of youth players.

However I suspect compensation would be an issue as both I think are under contract to 2026

The right decision sadly as Kris a legend but it never worked out in the end.  Quite a few of the players should be reflecting on their own roles in his departure.  All the best for future Kris, a gent who will always get a good reception around Firhill.

Echo a few on here with it’s a no from me re Graham getting the gig full time.

Maybe Brian Graham will have the same effect as Kris Doolan did two seasons ago? Don't think there is any doubt he has a hard edge to him.....but not convinced he has the correct mindset. Can only hope for the best as we are now entering unknown territory.

Idiot !

Have you seen there results and how his teams selected, he’s a manager who’s selections are dictated by Consilium Sports aka Jackie McNamara

McCabe is STILL in his job because he told who to play that’s a fact

Do your homework before posting rubbish

Check Airdrie squad and see who represents 85% of them FFS

Doolan was not the only architect of his downfall.  Others need to take a long hard look at themselves and change their behaviour.  Doolan will hopefully learn lessons and profit by them in his future career.  Graham is not the answer, nor is loading our overheads with extra layers of management.

Find a seasoned manager from outwith the usual suspects who will bring a radical change in the way we play.

We need to shed the amateurish, second best approach to running the Club.

Very good shout which sadly isn’t going to happen unless we find another £100K plus on top of what we paid Doolan

Queens Park are on a different level financially to anyone in Championship and even bottom SPL

As i said in the Raith Rovers match thread Dools will always be a legend as a player at our club and nobody can take that away from him. Wish him all the best in the future and he should always be welcomed at Firhill.

Agree with those that say we don't need a DOF, we need a manager who knows what system/systems they want to play and what players they need to make that a successes.

I have already said i would not want Neil Lennon as manager, he brings baggage with him that has no place in football and also i would not want associated with our club.

QP are on as poor a league run as us.

Looking at the managerial list the only club legend who played and managed the club with any degree of success was, inevitably, Davie McParland and let’s be honest he will never be surpassed.

I know what happened in his last 18months or so really changed some fans mind about Archibald but he did get us to our highest league position in over 40 years.

Poorly run and a financial basket case. You've just described Thistle!
