We sat too deep at times in that second half, our third goal came entirely against the run of play. We simply failed to press them for the first third of the second half and a big gap between Graham and the midfield as a result. At one point we even had all 11 players within 20 yards of our goal and we weren’t even defending a corner!
As others have pointed out we are short of defensive midfield options despite a plethora of midfielders! Perhaps Doolan can get Dowds out next week and bring another option in.

More positives today with plenty of desire in that first half, Mcinroy looks a player for us, Lawless was magnificent, McMillan had a great first half and Milne had a good game. Neilson had a good debut and the central defence looked stronger with him. Couldn’t understand why a clearly tired Graham wasn’t subbed but maybe Dools was relying on his defensive help at corners.

Special mention to the ref who was entirety inconsistent in his yellow cards and seemed to go out of his way to give us nothing.

Special mention to Muirhead today. Got his head or a foot on to a lot of dangerous crosses and after two disappointing games turned in a really solid performance. Neilson was also a strong presence and I liked his willingness to step forward when space opened up in front of him.

Others have already commented on the excellence of Lawless, McInroy, Milne and McMillan.

I would want to add Sneddon who gave confidence to his defence by coming and claiming some high balls. His distribution was a lot quicker and smarter than usual as well.

Thought we started slow and Queens Park had the early pressure. From about the 20th minute we started to put more pressure on them. Our first came from a cross into the box which some Thistle players missed, but McInroy knocked in. The second was the goal of the game imo a great ball into the box and Graham got in front of the defender, who didn't seem to realise where Graham was and Graham knocked it by the keeper. Really disappointing to concede right after scoring. The second half started with Queens park on the front foot and we scored the third against the run of play. Lawless got the ball after Queens Park had a throw near the corner flag, passed to McInroy who chipped the keeper.

McInroy got motm and can't think of anybody below par but a special mention for Lawless, Muirhead, Neilson and Sneddon.

A very good result.

Thought Stevie Lawless was magnificent today with 3 assists and incredible work rate, Aiden should maybe take fitness lessons from him .

That felt like a very important win...a loss would have put us a long way behind Queens Park with difficult successive away games against Ayr & Morton to come. Queens look a good football team although two of our goals came from interceptions when they overplayed out of defence.

We were playing some good stuff to go 2 - 0 up but immediately lost a sloppy goal, We hardly threatened after that and the gift for the third goal was very welcome. Neilson was a fault for their goal but came on to solid game and looks a decent player.

Good performances all round with special mention to Muirhead & Lawless...Stanway kept it simple and gives a better midfield balance than Williamson or Alston.

Hard to believe Queens' keeper is only 16...he's a physical specimen for his age and confident on the ball.

That throw-in stemmed from Neilson deciding to go long to relieve the defence rather than play in Fitzpatrick on the halfway line. While Fitzpatrick was still berating Neilson, Graham and McInroy found out the number 15, who thought he was Franz Beckenbauer 1974 all game. Lovely chipped finish from McInroy.

Apart from losing a needless goal immediately after going two up, and and a frankly dodgy ten minute start to the second half, where we afforded them far too much space in the wide areas, that was a pleasing performance today.

Lots still to work on, particularly in the defensive mode, but much much more to be happy about this evening.

A hearty well done to the players and the management team for that one.

I see that QP have played Arbroath twice in the league in two weeks…. Anyone know why?

Both were knocked-out of the League Cup at the group stages, so had no fixture last weekend.

Both sides presumably preferred a Saturday kick-off in August rather than a Tuesday evening one in October.

Mutually beneficial, no one else inconvenienced, simple request really.

Felt 3-1 flattered us a tad but we deserved the 3 points. Scoring the third goal against the run of play must have been a real sickener for QP. Lawless would've been my MotM. Putting in a rare 90 min shift a bonus.

Lot of folk were getting nervous, me included, re the backing off thru the middle. Think tho' getting bodies behind the ball was understandable. We know we don't have a dedicated ball winner and with Stanway and to a lesser extent, McInroy on yellows it was tightrope walking time. Thought Ben's booking a bit soft and the ref was very inconsistent.

Actually I thought Fitzpatrick would've been better employed not tracking back. We could have done with another out ball, especially in the 2nd half, and he's got the pace. That said Wee Stevie did well at killing the game later on.

Gotta add Queen's centreback No 15 provided no end of entertainment. He appeared to be playing just for the fun of it. Two goals down and he was nearly booked for time wasting. 😃

Special mention for the ref today… so I don’t just moan about them when we lose. The booking for the QP who grabbed the ball just before it went over the line was ridiculous… a ref showing how clever he is and knows all the rules! The bookings for Stan way and mcinroy were similarly ridiculous! Then not booking two QP Players in second half for fouls at least as bad as stanways and mcinroy… strange strange strange!!

Yes, i thought it was a bad pass from Neilson, but we turned it to our advantage by putting them under pressure at the throw.

And managed to tack on like 10 minutes of added time despite no real injury stoppages.

Refs have been told to add more time for things like subs, when goals are scored, time wasting, when the ball is out of play etc. Expect games to go on much longer for a while anyway, just like the world cup last year.

Great result and a thoroughly enjoyable football match. Shame we couldn’t keep a clean sheet but pleasing to see a response to last weeks defeat.

Thought Doolan got his tactics spot on today and good substitutions.

Lawless immense today and must have run miles!!

He and Brian Graham had a full-on altercation with grabbing of shirts right at the end...fortunately the final whistle went and they both then had a big cuddle...I was relieved in didn't end with another kiss on the lips.

Could see that with 3 mins added in the first half for no apparent reason.

I was raging that he allowed QP to take a corner then blew immediately when we cleared it

Apart from a ropey 10 first minutes of the second half, I thought that a very comfortable win. We did score the 3rd against the run of play, but they also scored theirs similarly against the run of play. We were good first half and could consider ourselves unfortunate to be only one ahead. After we scored the third, I felt strangely comfortable, they simply did not look like they were going to score. The 10 minutes injury time was seen out very comfortably with us looking more likely to score. Overall a good performance

They lost Murray and the big centre back who has signed for Dundee.  Arguably their best 2 signings

Did I hear correctly their goalkeeper is only 16 years old

My comments were focused on the ins and outs in the current transfer window so I don't think you can count Murray as QP lost him during the January transfer window..
