Arbroath Vs Partick Thistle

Arbroath had a few dangerous attacks early on, and Mitchell made a good save. Thistle gradually got on top. Some great Lawless McMillan moves, and McBeth again outstanding at the back.

Excellent run and shot from Fitzy for the goal, but celebration seemed a bit delayed. Were there some deflections along the way?

1-0 at halftime is fair reflection of the play. Game certainly not over yet. Would like to see another goal or three.

Why stop at 3 ?

Every player had a bit of fight in him.  Won loads of headers.  Probably unlucky not to get that handball penalty.  Good momentum for us now!

Can’t believe we lost 4-0 to them last fall.  They didn’t offer a whole lot today and our defence seemed to generally handle things comfortably.

A good result and keeping a good gap between us and 5th place. BBC reporting that the attendance was just over 1,000, which would be their lowest by quite some distance.

They announced the crowd as 2085..540Thistle fan's..

The end of a poor run of results had made it less apparent that we may have turned a corner in terms of defence since Ayr. The 4 games up to and including Ayr conceded 13 goals. Doolan responded and made changes which have resulted in conceding 5 in the last 5. Not brilliant granted, but much improved and an improvement possibly going under the radar due to not actually winning a game in the next three even with the improved defence performance.

What I think (hope?) it shows is that Doolan can react to problems and address them

Positives- 3 points & a clean sheet

Negatives- Having to drive home into the sun for 60 odd miles.

Considering the blustery conditions a good enough match. I still feel we don't see a game out that well. We start to play longer and concede possession too much. However our defending, both individually and collectively was very good today. Arbroath also defended well otherwise we'd have won more convincingly.
