Bonus!

“Freedom of the Press if it means anything at all , means the Freedom to criticise and oppose”

and TJF did plenty of exactly that-  in a “former life”  🤷‍♂️

- but now its “plotting against the Clubs interests”  -however - Im pretty sure the Jlo Board thought that also 😊

I never said anything about Rhys McCabe or Rhys mccave (whoever that is).  That’s twice you have mentioned that- it was another posted who said McCabe was being unveiled as manager not me.

Thanks as I said I have no reason to disbelieve any of the sources I have heard about Levi Gill.  You obviously have a completely different opinion which you are entitled.

Absolutely let’s see what the decision is - it will be an interesting week

Apologies for my egregious typo...

For the record I have no idea what you are on about regarding me mentioning him twice.

I don’t think there needs to be a conspiracy theory if Levi Gill is on the interview panel. He is a senior member of staff and no doubt has experience in interviewing. However, I am not sure that he should have a deciding vote, if any.

Stop talking sense. Get with the gossipy, rumour mongering conspiracies!! It's social media for goodness sake! Facts don't matter!

Whether he is mates with someone of influence or not, and without knowing who the other 4 on the shortlist are, what have people got against Baraclough ? A former international manager with experience is the Scottish Premier League and contacts North and South of the border. On paper he looks to have a decent CV for the job and would certainly bring in fresh ideas from outside the club.

As I said,I don’t know who else was in the last 5, just interested to know what Baraclough has done wrong ?

He’s pals with Levi Gill, apparently.

Some very tedious comments here…..it looks like the club are going through a fairly standard recruitment process where surprisingly people in the industry know other people in the industry which of course doesn’t happen in any other walk of life.

im assuming the club will appoint who they think is the best candidate and we will find out in due course whether their assessment was correct.

And if the Sporting director works well with the general manager, is that a bad thing ?

To elaborate on that point, an essential requirement of the post is in fact to have extensive contacts within the industry.

Aidan McGeady was at the game on Friday night. I'm hoping he was there in some capacity for another team and not because he's on the sporting director shortlist.

I think he held the role of Technical Manager at Ayr for a short period?

He is also scouting for Wigan, perhaps that had more to do with it.

Got to feel sorry for the guy, having to watch that!

His role at Ayr United was a dual role. I always thought it was a way of justifying his wages, if he wasn't going to play too much. Scouting for Wigan may have been through his relationship with Shaun Maloney, who has now left them.

I'm sure he will be on the lookout for a new job in football. No idea if he is looking to become a Sporting Director or not.

When we decided to go down the sporting director route I had figured it was going to be a fairly modern move, bringing in someone with a blend of commercial and football knowledge.

I had expected it would end up being someone few had heard of, maybe someone in a football operations team at a bigger club looking for a leadership role just as an example.

Going down the "failed" ex-manager route doesn't fill me with any particular excitement or optimism.

Going with the current state of newspapers that’s maybe not a bad thing

As someone who worked on newspapers for over 50 years, it saddens me to agree... although the guardian is a splendid example of old fashioned journalism
